IRS990/Desc0MIDLANDS REGIONAL COMPETITIVENESS REPORT AND COMPETITIVENESS WEEK - $80,641 REVIEW SUMMARY:THE MIDLANDS REGIONAL COMPETITIVENESS REPORT IS AN ANNUAL SCORECARD BENCHMARKING THE COLUMBIA MSA AGAINST OUR PEER AND ASPIRANT COMMUNITIES. IN ITS SIXTH YEAR, THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC OPENED UP A TREMENDOUS OPPORTUNITY FOR A SHIFT TO A DIGITAL STRATEGY, ALLOWING US TO EXPAND OUR CONTENT OFFERINGS AND REACH NEW AUDIENCES. TO EXPAND THE MIDLANDS REGIONAL COMPETITIVENESS REPORT'S IMPACT AND REACH, WE HOSTED THE COMPETITIVENESS SERIES, A ROSTER OF VIRTUAL EVENTS HIGHLIGHTING SOME OF THE REGION'S OPPORTUNITIES FOR GROWTH. RESULTS:FOR THE FIRST TIME, WE CREATED TWO COMPETITIVENESS REPORTS: A STANDARD PRINT VERSION AND OUR CENTERPIECE, A WEB-CENTRIC COMPETITIVENESS REPORT THAT INCLUDED VIDEOS AND ADDITIONAL ONLINE-ONLY CONTENT OUR TEAM CREATED EIGHT VIDEOS AND SEVEN ADDITIONAL PIECES OF DIGITAL CONTENT.WE SAW 3,129 COMPETITIVENESS REPORT VIEWERS (UP FROM 2,126 IN THE SAME PERIOD LAST YEAR)IN ADDITION TO OUR WELL-ATTENDED VIRTUAL LAUNCH, COMMUNITY PRESENTATIONS ALLOWED US TO REACH OVER 150 PEOPLE310 PARTICIPANTS ATTENDED AT LEAST ONE OF FIVE COMPETITIVENESS SERIES EVENTS15 SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS HIGHLIGHTED SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEURS AND RESOURCES FOR ENTREPRENEURS IN COLUMBIA IMPACT: THE SHIFT TO A DIGITAL STRATEGY - THOUGH NOT NECESSARILY PLANNED PRIOR TO THE PANDEMIC - WAS ONE THAT PAID OFF. WE SAW GREATER ENGAGEMENT AND BETTER CONTENT THAN WE'VE EVER GENERATED IN THIS REPORT. OUR INCORPORATION OF A VARIETY OF MEDIA MEANT THAT WE WERE ABLE TO PRESENT CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE COLUMBIA REGION IN A FRESH NEW LIGHT, WITH PLENTY OF CONTEXT TO ADD POWER AND ACTION TO OUR RECOMMENDATIONS. AS WE LOOK AHEAD TO FUTURE YEARS OF THE REPORT, WE SEE THE CHANCE TO TAKE THE NEXT STEP WITH THE COMPETITIVENESS REPORT: PRESENTING THIS DATA NOT JUST AS A BENCHMARKING TOOL, BUT AS THE CONTEXTUAL BACKDROP TO A TARGETED AGENDA FOR STEPS THAT MUST BE TAKEN TOWARDS A STRONGER FUTURE FOR OUR REGION. WE MISSED HOSTING IN-PERSON EVENTS IN THIS YEAR'S SERIES, BUT THE VIRTUAL DELIVERY OF PROGRAMMING DID NOT HINDER OUR ABILITY TO TAKE ON SOME OF OUR COMMUNITY'S MOST PRESSING ISSUES. SERIES EVENTS DISCUSSED SUCH TOPICS AS AFFORDABLE HOUSING, PUBLIC HEALTH AND WORKFORCE EQUITY. IT IS OUR HOPE THAT, EVEN AS WE INSERT SOCIAL EVENTS BACK INTO FUTURE SERIES, WE REMAIN COMMITTED TO ADDRESSING CHALLENGES THAT REQUIRE UNCOMFORTABLE CONVERSATIONS.
