Mission

To help to revitalize cleveland, one life at a time. Srmcdc has actively contributed to the social, economic, spiritual, and physical revitalization of cleveland, with best-practice services that engage, equip and mobilize our community toward lifelong learning.

Major Activities

Activity 2
After-school enrichment program operating in a safe and caring environment that encourages creativity, the after-school enrichment program provided 142 local low-income youth, ages 10-13, with strategic educational services. The purpose of the program is to measurably improve students' academic performance in literacy, reading comprehension, and math, provide them with relevant computer and multimedia skills, and encourage each student with constructive mentoring. Key statistics include: "literacy- as measured by pre & post tests, students showed 28% improvement in literacy and reading comprehension. Conceptual understanding was measured across reading applications that included informational and persuasive texts, and includes vocabulary acquisition. "math- students demonstrated an average of 19% improvement in math aptitude. Skills measured include computation, arithmetic, geometry, spatial sense, algebra, and probability. "computer skills- 88% of students acquired at least 2 additional computer skills (typing, ms word, excel, publisher, & adobe photoshop). Participants created a biographical powerpoint presentation and ms word report, and marketing materials utilizing adobe photoshop & publisher.
Activity 3
Scranton road legal clinic scranton road legal clinic (srlc) provides brief advice and community legal education workshops to the greater cleveland community, assisting and empowering our neighbors in making prudent, informed legal decisions. Over the past 10 months, srlc has provided 110 low-income clevelanders with the following services: "over 45 families have received brief advice, assistance with paperwork, and referrals to pro-bono attorneys for legal matters including landlord/tenant law, custody & visitation, probate law, creditor/debtor issues, and more. "65 individuals have attended educational workshops on wills & power of attorney, landlord/tenant relations, and dealing with creditors.
