Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Schedule d, part x, line 2: the organization is no longer subject to tax examinations for tax years before 2012 by taxing authorities in jurisdictions where the organization has filed returns. The organization did not identify any material unrecognized tax benefits upon evaluation of tax positions taken and therefore, there was no material effect on the organization's financial condition or results of operations. The organization evaluates at each balance sheet date uncertain tax positions taken, if any, to determine the need to record liabilities for taxes, penalties, and interest. The organization's policy is to record interest and penalties on uncertain tax provisions as income tax expense. As of june 30, 2016 and 2015, the organization has no accrued taxes, interest or penalties related to uncertain tax positions. The organization estimates the unrecognized tax benefit will not change significantly within the next twelve months.

THE EMPLOYED ARTISTS INFUSE THE ORGANIZATION WITH NEW CREATIVITY, INNOVATION AND COLLABORATION THAT HELPS DIRECT PROGRAM POLICY AND GUIDE STRATEGIC VISION. AS EMPLOYEES, THE RESIDENT TEACHING ARTISTS HAVE THE CAPACITY AND RESOURCES TO BUILD UPON RELATIONSHIPS THEY CREATE BY WORKING DIRECTLY WITH EDUCATORS AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS. THE ADDITION OF RESIDENT TEACHING ARTISTS TO CAL STAFF PROVIDES SUPPLEMENTAL VALUE TO THE ORGANIZATION. BECAUSE ARTISTS NATURALLY SPARK CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION, THEIR DAILY PRESENCE AMONG STAFF WILL UNDOUBTEDLY INSPIRE GREATER INGENUITY AND RESOURCEFULNESS. THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF ONGOING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (INDIVIDUAL GROWTH PLANS) WILL POSITION THE RESIDENT TEACHING ARTISTS AS WELL-TRAINED ARTS-INTEGRATION LEADERS. TEENS ARE PAID A STIPEND. BY EQUIPPING STUDENTS WITH SKILLS THAT ARE NEEDED FOR EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL SUCCESS, SUCH AS CRITICAL THINKING, CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING, PROJECT MANAGEMENT, WRITTEN AND ORAL COMMUNICATION AND TEAMWORK, ARTWORKS PREPARES TEENS FOR SUCCESS IN THE 21ST CENTURY CLASSROOM, WORKPLACE AND BEYOND. ARTWORKS SIMULATES A REAL-WORK EXPERIENCE AND INCLUDES COMMUNITY SERVICE AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP. THE PROGRAM CONCLUDES WITH A PERFORMANCE AND EXHIBIT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. ARTWORKS BRINGS TOGETHER APPROXIMATELY 200 STUDENTS ENTERING 10TH, 11TH AND 12TH GRADES FROM OVER 65 DIFFERENT PUBLIC, PAROCHIAL AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS. MORE THAN 70% OF THE TEENS COME FROM THE CITY OF CLEVELAND AND THE INNER RING SUBURBS.
