Mission

Ica works with member institutions, corporate and individual collectors to conserve and preserve their objects, artifacts, and documents. Ica also provides workshops, lectures, and symposia to train collections care professionals and the general public on issues surrounding art and artifact preservation.

Ica, the nation's oldest regional conservation center founded in 1952, offers services to museums, libraries, collecting entities, and the public that include technical study, laboratory and on-site conservation, fine art storage, custom crates and displays, assessments, surveys, photography, disaster assistance, grant collaboration, and publications for professional and general audiences. Ica offers consulting and resources for preventive conservation practices that preserve collections and offers educational workshops, seminars, and public service information. A copy of the draft irs federal form 990 is reviewed internally by senior staff and the board treasurer. The final draft is presented to the full board of directors. A copy of the final completed form 990 is provided to each board member.

A copy of ica's conflict of interest policy is provided to each board member when they join the board. Annually, each board member is required to reread the policy and submit any possible conflicts to the president of the board.

The board of directors approves the executive director's salary, which is recommended by the executive committee. The executive committee uses data from other organizations' form 990s and various other sources to determine a fair salary based on experience and qualifications.

In addition to the considerable time that ica's board of directors members contribute to the organization, ica has 2 other volunteers jacob emmett - volunteer in registration and project management department, 8 hours per week for 15 weeks (120hrs), (received graduate school credit for this internship) jacob got credit for his internship and was paying to go to school. The 2nd year internship is a required part of their program. Amalia donaustorg - volunteer in education, 8 hours per week for 10 weeks (80hrs) , she didn't get credit for this. Total for both 200 hours.

Note 9- deferred revenue ica collects deposits for program services in advance of providing services. In addition, membership dues are pro-rated over the term of the membership and unused dues are included in deferred revenue. Note 10- prior period adjustment as stated in note 9 ica collects deposits for program services in advance of providing services, in some cases work will not begin for a year or more. During fye 2017, these deposits were erroneously, recorded as revenue when collected.

Ica complies with fasb asc 740- accounting for uncertainty in income taxes. Fasb asc 740 details how organizations should recognize, measure, present and disclose uncertain tax positions that have been or are expected to be taken. As such, the financials would reflect expected future tax consequences of uncertain tax positions presuming the taxing authorities' full knowledge of all relevant facts, if they existed. Management believes there are no uncertain tax positions. The organization's tax years that remain subject to examination by the internal revenue service are august 31, 2015 and forward
