Building upon our previous successes, we expanded our career development programs for refugees in the United States. In San Diego, we assisted five Karen refugees in developing healthcare skills, leading to their employment at a local community health center. This model has been replicated in other states, broadening our impact.The humanitarian crisis in the Thai-Burma region intensified, prompting us to enhance our support for affected communities. We implemented self-sustaining programs in several schools, including the establishment of stores and farming initiatives, generating income to support educational activities. Additionally, we expanded our facilities to accommodate orphans who lost their parents due to military conflicts.Our annual advocacy efforts continued virtually, allowing us to effectively communicate with U.S. government officials about refugee challenges without incurring significant travel expenses. We provided timely information on the evolving situations facing refugees, ensuring that their voices were heard in policy discussions.We hosted a public health presentation in collaboration with the U.S. Department of State, engaging delegates from the Middle East to share insights into U.S. public health programs. A refugee team member shared his personal journey, enriching the dialogue with firsthand experiences.Our PowerMentor Leadership Academy in Ei Htu Hta flourished, with the addition of a new dormitory to accommodate growing enrollment.
