“In 2023 we focused much effort on career development for refugees in the United States, including assessments for job interest, guidance counseling, and in many cases assisting with job interviews. In San Diego we assisted five Karen refugees in skill development in the health care field, and now they are gainfully employed at a local community health center. This has spread to other states as well.”

“Humanitarian aid to the Thai/Burma region has decreased drastically and the needs are overwhelming. In 2023 we developed a program for many of our schools in the region to become self-sustaining. This included launching a store and small farm to support the local school. We have also expanded our schools, as many orphans need shelter due to their parents being killed by the Burma military.”

“Our annual trip to Washington DC continues to be conducted virtually, as transportation and permits are costly. We continue to provide information to U.S. officials on the situations facing the refugees. We hosted a presentation on public health with the U.S. Department of State, hosting delegates across the Middle East to share the public health programs used in the U.S. One refugee from our team attended to share his story.”
