Mission

A Faith-Based Community and Economic Development organization collaborating its resources with Faith and Community-Based Organizations, and community and strategic partners to provide practical solutions to issues effecting the low-to-moderate communities. The Organization's primary initiatives focus areas include Nonprofit Technical Assistance, Energy-Smart Education, Health Wellness, Wealth Building, Public Policy, and Civic Engagement.

BBCI/Southern California Edison's Energy Savings Assistance Program - VSF is contracted to perform outreach, conduct in-home energy assessments, and energy savings education workshops on behalf of SCE and the California Public Utilities Commission. The program offers discounts through the SCE's CARE and Energy Savings Assistance Program to include no cost replacement of qualified appliances, energy education, and weatherization efficiency solutions to its low-to-moderate income customer base. 234 homes were served. Note: Due to COVID-19 All Assessments were conducted utilizing a virtual platform; In December the Organization was approved to design and implement the Pathway To The Future internship program focused on Building A Better Community E-SMART and E-Stewardship Initiative focused on preparing African American youth (Grades 11 and 12) and young adults (College Students) for: Personalized Career/Entrepreneurial/Strength's support, Thriving 21st Century STEAM careers, Building life-long skills in workforce/career development and financial fitness, Addressing the housing security trends among African American families. Upon completing the VSF Team Green Internship, participants will be awarded scholarships and other additional financial incentives based on completion and success of team projects. College and graduate students will receive a financial stipend.$0$50,904
BBIC/Capacity Building and Technical Assistance. Provided technical assistance services in the areas of corporate governance, corporate formation, and faith-based nonprofit management. Conducted webinar sessions with five newly formed organizations working with the board of directors, ministry teams, and volunteers to organize community outreach events, and community assessments in a COVID-19 environment. The assessments focused on three areas (1) What is the State of the Organization: Does the organization have the capacity and resources to complete the intended project initiative. (2) What is the State of the Community: Does the Organization have a true sense of the needs of the community. (3) What is the State of the Congregation: Does the leadership have a true sense of the needs of its congregation. An additional assessment is conducted "The Triangle of Success" focusing on the needs, state, and conditions of the Home, School, and Community. The goal and objective of the assessments is to assist the participating organizations with the structure and implementation of their Building a Better Community Initiative Strategic Plan. Pastors, Lay Leaders, and CDC directors participated in 8 Financial empowerment Through A Crisis virtual webinar training sessions. Participating ministries hosted the events which included their leadership, congregation members, and surrounding community residence. Information included COVID-19 assistance programs, financial planning, debt management, and wealth building strategies.
