Activity 2

Place Based Initiative: The East Street Community Renewal Initiative (ESCRI) is located in the three-square mile area surrounding Eli's thrift store and offices, a low income, densely populated, high crime area. ESCI provides a holistic approach toward child abuse prevention through comprehensive community renewal. Visioned in 2008 and implemented in 2009, the program has become firmly established in the community. In 2011, it served in excess of 1000 people. All classes and programs are offered free of charge, including job training and placement, ESL, financial literacy, teen clubs, healthy eating cooking classes, and parenting classes. ESCRI held community meetings for citizens to meet City of Anaheim decision makers and Fire and Police Departments. Per IRS rules, in-kind professional services valued at $13,842 and $2,077 donated rent are not included in program expense statement. Volunteers logged 328 service hours to the program. Activity 3

Human Services Programs, General/Other: Provided job training and placement in the organization's thrift store, emergency shelter, referral services to appropriate care providers, low cost and free clothing, food, and household goods to at-risk families, provided special holiday events and assistance to existing and past clients and others at-risk, distributed child abuse prevention materials. This effort was enhanced by donated rent valued at $24,679 and donated professional services valued at $11,886 (not included in program expense, per IRS) and 347 logged volunteer service hours.
