Activity 2

Place Based Initiative: The East Street Community Renewal Initiative (ESCRI) is located in the three square mile area surrounding Eli's thrift store and offices, a low income, densely populated, high crime area. ESCRI provides a holistic approach toward child abuse prevention through comprehensive community renewal. Envisioned in 2008, implemented and established in 2009, the ESCRI program blossomed in 2010, serving in excess of 987 people and tripling the programs offered free of charge to area families. Community members participated in ongoing classes taught by ESCRI staff and by volunteer partnering professionals. Classes included job training and placement, ESL, financial literacy, consumer credit counseling, and parenting. As a result of their participation in the ESCRI program, people interviewed and obtained jobs from partnering area businesses, and one person started her own business. In kind professional services valued at $ 920 are not included in program expense statement per IRS. Volunteers logged 435 service hours to the program. (987 persons)

Activity 3

Human Services Programs, General/Other: Provided job training and job placement in the organization's thrift store, emergency shelter, referral services to appropriate care providers, low cost and free clothing, food, and household goods to at-risk families, provided special holiday events and assistance to existing and past clients and others at-risk, distributed child abuse prevention materials. This effort was enhanced by donated rent valued at $10,575 and donated professional services valued at $3,251 (not included in program expense per IRS), and 1358 documented volunteer service hours.
