Mission
THROUGH OUR PORTFOLIO OF SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY APPROACHES, WE PROVIDE INNOVATIVE TOOLS, TRAINING AND ASSISTANCE TO SCHOOL LEADERS, TEACHERS AND COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDERS. We change the way teaching and learning happens in our schools through early college high schools and personalized, competency-based education. We work to develop and help administrators and teachers implement innovative and more effective learning environments. We educate legislators, policy makers, educators, business leaders and the community at large on future trends in teaching and learning, on the need for change, on potential policies to adopt and on the mechanisms needed to implement these ideas. Invest in the Greater Cincinnati community through our support of StrivePartnership. An affiliate of KnowledgeWorks, StrivePartnership unites leaders from various sectors to support every child, every step of the way, cradle to career in the urban core of Greater Cincinnati.
By delivering innovative education approaches and advancing aligned policies, KnowledgeWorks activates and develops the capacity of communities and educators to imagine, build and sustain vibrant learning ecosystems that allow each student to thrive.

The Foundation believes that income tax filing positions will be sustained upon examination and does not anticipate any adjustments that would result in a material adverse effect on the Foundation's financial position, statement of activities, or cash flows. Accordingly, the Foundation has not recorded any reserves or related accruals for interest and penalties for uncertain income tax positions at June 30, 2017 and 2016. In the event interest and penalties accrued on unrecognized tax benefits, the Foundation would recognize such amounts as a component of income tax expense.”

| IRS990/Desc | 0 | KW in Schools:From its inception, KnowledgeWorks has focused on creating personalized learning environments that engage students and help each individual thrive in college, career and civic life. Four years ago KnowledgeWorks entered the national conversation about personalized, competency-based learning (PCBL) behind a concentration of thoughtful policy briefs focused on federal policy reform, aligned advocacy, and partner engagement. This body of work, combined with over 15 years of on-the-ground experience in innovative school design, implementation, continuous improvement and collective impact, quickly established KnowledgeWorks as a thought leader and trusted resource for policymakers and other organizations launching statewide and local PCBL initiatives. These leaders are now turning to KnowledgeWorks for support bringing to life the PCBL communities that their policies have enabled. As a result, in FY17 KnowledgeWorks continued to move from policy to practice in the PCBL space. The organization continued to develop a technical assistance approach and tested this approach in two pilot sites across the country. Third-party evaluator, RMC, provided baseline and formative data from the pilot sites in Augusta, Maine and Marysville, Ohio. Lessons learned through the analysis of interventions and outcomes in these sites will guide the design and implementation of KnowledgeWorks' new portfolio of PCBL products and services. By the close of FY17, the personalized learning and CBE team were working on implementation projects in Colorado, Michigan, Ohio, South Carolina and Minnesota, suggesting strong demand for personalized learning and PCBL services in FY18 and beyond. |
