Mission

Hotel inc exists to break the cycles of poverty and homelessness and build self-sufficient households. The organization has been serving the improverished and homeless of warren county, kentucky (bowling green)since 1981. It has several programs that serve to meet their mission as well as connecting individuals and families to other resources in the community that may better serve them. Hotel inc's three largest program services to assist individuals in need, in order of largest to smallest, are (1)manna mart food pantry (2) care giving financial assistance and (3)street medicine/homeless services. These three programs are vital to the fulfillment of their mission statement.

Hotel inc (helping others through extending love - in the name of christ) provides warren county, kentucky citizens with pathways to stable housing, community resources, building relationships, quality food and serving our neighbors.

Form 990, Part III, Line 4D: Other Program Services Description

Other program services 4: food for all communtiy garden- hotel inc supplies manna mart food pantry with fresh produce. Salad beds are located on hotel inc's property. Other program services 5: street medicine - street medicine is hotel inc's third focus program, which provides weekly fixed and mobile site volunteer teams addressing the basic and medical needs of the street homeless and precariously housed. The street medicine teams consist of medical professionals, housing navigators, and street medicine coordinator. It is the overreaching goal of this program to help people experiencing homelessness to overcome barriers to health care and obtain permanent housing. The street medicine program provided 2047 services in 2018 to 337 households with 517 people the transitional medical respite home was opened november 2017 was utilized at capacity in 2018. This home is used by street medicine and housing departments. It consist of 2 bedrooms/2 bathrooms with shared common space. Participants pay a program fee 0f up to 30 percent of their income, complete weekly navigation, develop a transition plan from medical respite to permanent housing. The housing department may utilize a transition home for an individual or family, that will be moving into permanent housing in 60 days. Up to 4 individuals or one family may be in the home at one time. Respite is also provided for program participants needing less than 30 days stay in motel with a voucher,street medicine department utilizes 1 staff member and medical volunteers.additional development classes are offered throughout the year.beginning in january 2018 weekly recovery classes will be held.each week staff and volunteers provide homeless outreach services in a local park. This too can serve as a first point of contact. In addition to outreach services, a meal is provided weekly by various volunteer groups. Other program services 6: chaplain services: as hotel inc stirves to meet the physical, spiritual and emotional needs within their community. One program is through the chaplain services, which are free and open to the community.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE HELPS INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES WITH AN INCOME IN PREVENTING HOMELESSNESS, OBTAINING PERMANENT HOUSING, MEDICAL ASSISTANCE, AND/OR TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE, WHEN OBTAINING A NEW JOB OR MEDICAL APPOINTMENT, DOCUMENTATION ASSISTANCE WHEN NEEDING A BIRTH CERTIFICATE, A STATE PHOTO ID,OR A DRIVER'S LICENSE. THIS PROGRAM REQUIRES A 5 WEEK FINANCIAL LITERACY SERIES AND HOUSING EDUCATION CLASS. RECIPROCAL GIVING OF 1 HOUR OF SERVICE FOR EVERY $10 OF ASSISTANCE RECEIVED IS REQUIRED IN ADDITION TO THE EDUCATION CLASSES. A PROGRAM PARTICIPANT CANNOT OBTAIN HOUSING ASSISTANCE MORE THAN 1 TIME PER YEAR. ANY PERSON APPROVED CANNOT APPLY FOR ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE UNTIL ALL OF THE RECIPROCAL HOURS ARE COMPLETED.SHORT TERM RENTAL ASSISTANCE WITH CASE MANAGEMENT BEGAN IN MAY 2016. THIS PROGRAM SUPPORTS PEOPLE WHO ARE HOMELESS IN OBTAINING PERMANENT HOUSING. FAMILIES RECEIVED AFTER CARE MANAGEMENT FOR UP TO 1 YEAR TO ALLOW FOR CONTINUED EDUCATION AND OVERCOMING BARRIERS THAT HAVE LED TO HOMELESSNESS IN THE PAST. HOUSEHOLDS IN THIS PROGRAM MAY ALSO RECEIVE A TIERED LEVEL OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR UP TO 1 YEAR. SINCE IMPLEMENTING CHANGES TO OUR HOUSING DEPARTMENT IN 2016, 85% OF THOSE ASSISTED HAVE MAINTAINED PERMANENT HOUSING WITH AN AVERAGE OF 3.5 MONTHS OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE,23 HOUSEHOLDS (46 PEOPLE) RECEIVED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO OBTAIN PERMANENT HOUSING. HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION WAS PROVIDED TO 63 HOUSEHOLDS (106 PEOPLE). HOTEL INC STRIVES TO PROVIDE TOOLS AND SUPPORT FOR INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES TO BE ABLE TO TRANSFORM THEIR LIVES. IN 2018 NEARLY 900 HOURS OF EDUCATION TIME WAS COMPLEED BY 228 HOUSEHOLDS WITH 389 PEOPLE. THE DROP-IN CENTER PROVIDES AN OPPORTUNTY FOR PEOPLE EXPERIENCING STREET HOMELESSNESS TO ACCESS A SHOWER, LAUNDRY, COMPUTER, CHAPLAIN, EDUCATION, AND HOUSING NAVIGATION SERVICES. THE DROP-IN CENTER SERVED 385 HOUSEHOLDS (658 PEOPLE) EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS. THE DROP-IN CENTER SERVICES AS A CONNECTING LINK TO PERMANENT HOUSING.THE HOMELESS & HOUSING DEPARTMENT UTILIZES STAFF, VOLUNTEERS, AND A SOCIAL WORKER INTERN.

IN 2018, IT CONTINUED TO BE A COMMUNITY PARTNER OF MEIJER (RETAIL STORE) AND RECEIVES CONTRIBUTIONS THROUGH THEIR SIMPLY GIVE PROGRAM, WHICH ALLOWS MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY TO MAKE DONATIONS AT THE STORE, THAT IS THEN MATCHED AND SOMETIMES DOUBLED BY MEIJER. HOTEL INC THEN RECEIVES GIFT CARDS THAT ALLOWS THE STAFF OF HOTEL INC TO ORDER FOOD FOR THE PROGRAM DIRECTLY FROM THE WAREHOUSE AT DISCOUNTED CHARGES. THE STAFF WORKS WITH AREA FARMERS TO PROVIDE LOCAL FRESH FOOD FOR CLIENTS IN ADDITION TO SHELF STAPLES. MORE THAN 20,300 POUNDS OF FRESH FOOD WERE DISTRIBUTED. THE FOOD FOR ALL COMMUNITY GARDEN RAISED VEGETABLES FOR THE FOOD PANTRY. THE FOOD PANTRY PRACTICE ALLOWS THE CLIENT TO SHOP FOR THEIR FOOD SELECTIONS, WHICH IS THE BEST PRACTICE ACROSS THE USA. IN 2018, 116,608 CANNED FOOD ITEMS WERE DISTRIBUTED TO 1,539 HOUSEHOLDS WITH 3,260 PEOPLE IN THESE HOUSEHOLDS AND 841 OF THEM BEING CHILDREN AND 364 BEING SENIOR CITIZENS. OF THE 3,260 PEOPLE PROVIDED FOR THEIR NEEDS, 1,138 PEOPLE WERE NEW TO USING MANNA MART IN 2018. WHILE A MAJORITY OF HOUSEHOLDS UTILIZE THE FOOD PANTRY 1-3 TIMES PER YEAR. THEY ARE WORKING WITH HOUSEHOLDS EXPERIENCING CRONIC HUNGER ON WAYS TO ALLEVIATE OR REDUCE THE HUNGER AND IDENTIFY SYSTEMIC BARRIERS THAT CAN BE RESOLVED. THIS IS HAPPENING THROUGH COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS, WORKING WITH A SOCIAL WORKER ON THEIR REASONS OF HUNGER AND EXPLORING OTHER PROGRAM MODELS THAT HELP ADDRESS THE SYSTEMIC CAUSES OF HUNGER.MANNA MART UTILIZES THE LARGEST NUMBER OF VOLUNTEERS AND GROUPS AT HOTEL INC WITH STAFF OVERSIGHT.

THE STREET MEDICINE TEAMS CONSIST OF MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS, HOUSING NAVIGATORS, AND STREET MEDICINE COORDINATOR. IT IS THE OVERREACHING GOAL OF THIS PROGRAM TO HELP PEOPLE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS TO OVERCOME BARRIERS TO HEALTH CARE AND OBTAIN PERMANENT HOUSING. THE STREET MEDICINE PROGRAM PROVIDED 2047 SERVICES IN 2018 TO 337 HOUSEHOLDS WITH 517 PEOPLE THE TRANSITIONAL MEDICAL RESPITE HOME WAS OPENED NOVEMBER 2017 WAS UTILIZED AT CAPACITY IN 2018. THIS HOME IS USED BY STREET MEDICINE AND HOUSING DEPARTMENTS. IT CONSIST OF 2 BEDROOMS/2 BATHROOMS WITH SHARED COMMON SPACE. PARTICIPANTS PAY A PROGRAM FEE 0F UP TO 30 PERCENT OF THEIR INCOME, COMPLETE WEEKLY NAVIGATION, DEVELOP A TRANSITION PLAN FROM MEDICAL RESPITE TO PERMANENT HOUSING. THE HOUSING DEPARTMENT MAY UTILIZE A TRANSITION HOME FOR AN INDIVIDUAL OR FAMILY, THAT WILL BE MOVING INTO PERMANENT HOUSING IN 60 DAYS. UP TO 4 INDIVIDUALS OR ONE FAMILY MAY BE IN THE HOME AT ONE TIME. RESPITE IS ALSO PROVIDED FOR PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS NEEDING LESS THAN 30 DAYS STAY IN MOTEL WITH A VOUCHER,STREET MEDICINE DEPARTMENT UTILIZES 1 STAFF MEMBER AND MEDICAL VOLUNTEERS.ADDITIONAL DEVELOPMENT CLASSES ARE OFFERED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.BEGINNING IN JANUARY 2018 WEEKLY RECOVERY CLASSES WILL BE HELD.EACH WEEK STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS PROVIDE HOMELESS OUTREACH SERVICES IN A LOCAL PARK. SALAD BEDS ARE LOCATED ON HOTEL INC'S PROPERTY. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: STREET MEDICINE - STREET MEDICINE IS HOTEL INC'S THIRD FOCUS PROGRAM, WHICH PROVIDES WEEKLY FIXED AND MOBILE SITE VOLUNTEER TEAMS ADDRESSING THE BASIC AND MEDICAL NEEDS OF THE STREET HOMELESS AND PRECARIOUSLY HOUSED. THE STREET MEDICINE TEAMS CONSIST OF MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS, HOUSING NAVIGATORS, AND STREET MEDICINE COORDINATOR. IT IS THE OVERREACHING GOAL OF THIS PROGRAM TO HELP PEOPLE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS TO OVERCOME BARRIERS TO HEALTH CARE AND OBTAIN PERMANENT HOUSING. THE STREET MEDICINE PROGRAM PROVIDED 2047 SERVICES IN 2018 TO 337 HOUSEHOLDS WITH 517 PEOPLE THE TRANSITIONAL MEDICAL RESPITE HOME WAS OPENED NOVEMBER 2017 WAS UTILIZED AT CAPACITY IN 2018. THIS HOME IS USED BY STREET MEDICINE AND HOUSING DEPARTMENTS. IT CONSIST OF 2 BEDROOMS/2 BATHROOMS WITH SHARED COMMON SPACE. PARTICIPANTS PAY A PROGRAM FEE 0F UP TO 30 PERCENT OF THEIR INCOME, COMPLETE WEEKLY NAVIGATION, DEVELOP A TRANSITION PLAN FROM MEDICAL RESPITE TO PERMANENT HOUSING. THE HOUSING DEPARTMENT MAY UTILIZE A TRANSITION HOME FOR AN INDIVIDUAL OR FAMILY, THAT WILL BE MOVING INTO PERMANENT HOUSING IN 60 DAYS. UP TO 4 INDIVIDUALS OR ONE FAMILY MAY BE IN THE HOME AT ONE TIME. RESPITE IS ALSO PROVIDED FOR PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS NEEDING LESS THAN 30 DAYS STAY IN MOTEL WITH A VOUCHER,STREET MEDICINE DEPARTMENT UTILIZES 1 STAFF MEMBER AND MEDICAL VOLUNTEERS.ADDITIONAL DEVELOPMENT CLASSES ARE OFFERED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.BEGINNING IN JANUARY 2018 WEEKLY RECOVERY CLASSES WILL BE HELD.EACH WEEK STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS PROVIDE HOMELESS OUTREACH SERVICES IN A LOCAL PARK. THIS TOO CAN SERVE AS A FIRST POINT OF CONTACT. IN ADDITION TO OUTREACH SERVICES, A MEAL IS PROVIDED WEEKLY BY VARIOUS VOLUNTEER GROUPS. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: CHAPLAIN SERVICES: AS HOTEL INC STIRVES TO MEET THE PHYSICAL, SPIRITUAL AND EMOTIONAL NEEDS WITHIN THEIR COMMUNITY. ONE PROGRAM IS THROUGH THE CHAPLAIN SERVICES, WHICH ARE FREE AND OPEN TO THE COMMUNITY.
