Volunteer roles include fosters, adoption counselors, interacting with visitors to the adoption center, socializing fearful cats and helping with marketing, fundraising, outreach and transportation. Cat town is lucky to have such a strong community of support and we could not do this work without our wonderful volunteers.”
“Cat town filed a 990-t for the years of 2014, 2015 and 2016 to report earnings on the "cat cafe" adjacent to the cat town adoption center. Cat town ran the cafe, selling coffee, pastries, etc. The cafe itself never earned a profit and was a drain on staff and other resources. In mid-2016, the board decided to disband the cafe portion of the business, effective january 1, 2017. Since then, an experienced cafe owner has run a cafe at the same site, so that the patrons are still able to watch the cats through the window. Cat town itself no longer has a financial interest or any management of the cafe. Therefore, it is not necessary for a 990-t to be prepared.”

THROUGH A COLLABORATIVE PARTNERSHIP WITH OUR MUNICIPAL SHELTER, OUR FOCUS ON THE HARDEST-TO-PLACE CATS HAS HELPED THE SHELTER REDUCE THE EUTHANASIA RATE FOR CATS BY 70%. |
