To promote the conservation, restoration, and preservation of land and natural resources and foster compatible land uses among both public and private landowners.

Form 990, Part X

The organization continues to hold easements for properties. The organization no longer holds the properties. Properties are now held by the related organization, compatible lands management.

Financial Statement Notes

Schedule D, Page 1, Part II, Line 5

In 2022 the organization set up a new way to track expenses and time for monitoring. Additionally, the organization move to a system of using satellite images for monitoring so that people are only sent out if there is an identified issue. The organization expects this to decrease the cost associated with monitoring.

Schedule D, Page 1, Part II, Line 9

Conservation easements are recorded on the primary balance sheet based on the price paid for the easement. There are easements where there were bargain sales are added. Other easements are donated and are added to the balance sheet as soon as can be appropriately recorded. However, these easements are not included in this balance sheet.

Schedule D, Page 3, Part X

Clf is exempt from income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code as provided by a determination letter received from the internal revenue service. The organization has adopted the provisions of fasb asc 740-10, accounting for income taxes. This standard clarifies the accounting for uncertainty in income taxes recognized in an organization's financial statements. The standard prescribes recognition and measurement of tax postions taken or expected to be taken on a tax return that are not certain to be realized. The organization has not identified any uncertain tax positions. The income tax returns of clf are subject to review and examination by u.s. Federal jurisdiction and the state of oklahoma. Management is not aware of any activities that are subject to tax on unrelated business income or excise or other taxes.
