FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

The a21 campaign is a non-profit organization engaged in the abolishment of human injustice, particularly in regards to human trafficking. The a21 campaign stands for "abolishing injustice in the 21st century- and was officially launched in march 2008. We have offices in greece, ukraine, bulgaria, norway, the united kingdom, australia, usa (west coast and east coast), south africa and thailand. Organizationally we aim to focus on the following initiatives: prevention (awareness & education), protection, prosecution, and partnership. We aim to raise awareness through our prevention initiatives in order to save thousands of people from becoming victims by informing the next generation. We aim to protect those who have been trafficked through the provision of crisis shelters and transition homes. We want to give them access to educational and vocational opportunities to improve their ability to work in more meaningful and safe employment. We aim to prosecute those individuals who traffic people into slavery and we also aim to promote changes in legislation to ensure that traffickers are brought to justice. This is done through partnerships with other organizations such as police, other law enforcement agencies (leas), immigration, border controls, embassies/consulates and other non- government organizations. Our aim is to rescue, restore and rebuild the lives of those affected by injustice in the 21st century. 2017 achievements 2017 was a year of more - more survivors in our care, court cases won, traffickers sentenced, professionals trained, and students reached. Some of the key highlights from the year include: grand opening of our child advocacy center in thailand, receivng the mother teresa memorial award for social justice, almost 10,000 calls to our hotlines, 10 court cases won, and 129 operations resulting in 182 victims being identified. Below are key events, initiatives, and achievements categorized by our operational model: reach, rescue, restore. Reach in 2017: 335,230 people were reached through prevention and awareness events; 12,574 at-risk youth reached; 36,177 students reached through presentations and events. -mother teresa international memorial award for social justice in december, our founders, nick and christine caine, received this award from the harmony foundation in mumbai, india for our ongoing work to combat human trafficking and to place value on people during the refugee crisis. Our heart has always been to reach the most vulnerable, and as the refugee crisis heightened, we knew there was work to be done. -can you see me? Thailand we launched can you see me? In thailand in partnership with the royal thai government's prime minister's office, the ministry of social development and human security, the ministry of transport, and the royal thai police. 443 railway stations (every station in the country) 325 buses around bangkok 35 airports 30 central shopping malls -global walk for freedom on october 14, 2017, we made history - tens of thousands of us taking millions of steps in cities all over the world. Single-file lines of abolitionists showed up dressed in all black, lacing up their shoes and rallying their communities. Over 400 locations in 50 countries 70 million people reached through social media -northern cape tour our south african team toured the northern cape, the largest province in south africa, in partnership with national freedom network and funded by a grant from vital voices in the usa. The northern cape has major hotspots for trafficking recruitment. We built networking partnerships to secure a response to arising trafficking cases and empowered local groups in each town to take action. -refugee booklets in response to the refugee crisis, we designed booklets that highlight the danger of exploitation and inform refugees on the warning signs of human trafficking. Over 7,500 of them were distributed, including norway asylum centres, and we have continued to hand them out to refugees during

Financial Statement Notes

Schedule D, Page 3, Part X

The organization is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code as other than a private foundation. The organization follows accounting standard codification 740, accounting for uncertainty in income taxes. Income tax benefits are recognized for income tax positions taken or expected to be taken in a tax return, only when it is determined that the income tax position will more-likely-than-not be sustained upon examination by taxing authorities. The organization analyzed tax positions taken for filing with the irs and all state jurisdictions where it operates. The organization believes that income tax filing positions will be sustained upon examination and does not anticipate any adjustments that would result in a material adverse effect on the organization's financial condition, results of operations or cash flows. Accordingly, the organization has not recorded a related accrual for interest and penalties for uncertain tax positions as of december 31, 2017. The organization is subject to routine audits by taxing jurisdictions from fiscal year end 2013 forward. There are currently no audits for any open tax periods.
