“The mission of bayareachess is to provide children, youth and adults enjoyable activities that develop intellectual, mathematical, analytical, visual, and personal skills. Bayareachess leverages chess and other cerebral games to stimulate and exercise thinking skills, demonstrate the relationship between actions and consequences, inculcate the ability to think ahead, emphasize non-violence, and teach methods of handling setbacks. Activities are conducted primarily in the san francisco bay area, which includes the counties of alameda, contra costa, marin, napa, san francisco, san mateo, santa clara, solano, and sonoma. In the future, bayareachess may expand to other regions. Bayareachess conducts two distinct functions: instruction (training) and events (competition).”
