UNDER THE UMBRELLA OF RAMSEY COUNTY HUMAN SERVICES, CASE MANAGERS WORK WITH JUVENILES PLACED ON PROBATION THROUGH THE JUVENILE COURT. CASE MANAGERS REPORT THE PROGRESS OF A YOUTH DIRECTLY WITH THE JUVENILE COURT. THE GOAL IS TO PROVIDE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICES THAT WILL ADDRESS THE NEEDS OF THESE JUVENILES AND REDUCE PLACEMENT. IN 2010-2011 WE ADDED NEW COMPONENT, THE CHIPS INTERVENTION SPECIALIST IN PARTNERSHIP WITH RAMSEY COUNTY AND THE SUBURBAN RAMSEY CHILDREN'S COLLABORATIVE. THIS POSITION FOCUSES ON EARLY INTERVENTION OF YOUTH IN SUBURBAN RAMSEY COUNTY WHO ARE OFTEN HABITUALLY TRUANT AND WHO OFTEN HAVE A HISTORY OF RUNNING AWAY FROM HOME. ENHANCED JUVENILE OUTREACH AND ADVOCACY HAS LED TO FEWER YOUTH BEING PLACED OUT OF THE HOME. IN PLACEMENT NUMBERS HAVE ALSO DECLINED.RAMSEY COUNTY EVENING LEARNING CENTERELC - COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT 1. REGULAR HOME VISITS. 2. STAFF PARTICIPATES IN COMMUNITY EVENTS AND DIRECTS CLIENT TO FREE AND USEFUL RESOURCES. 3. FORMER CLIENTS CONTINUE PARTICIPATION AFTER COMPLETING PROGRAM.4. HAD A BASKETBALL TEAM FOR YOUTH PARTICIPANTS5. PARTNERED WITH PENUMBRA TO BRING PARTICIPATING YOUTH TO THEATER.6. PARTNERED WITH THE WILDERNESS INQUIRY TO TAKE PARTICIPATING YOUTH ON A CANOE TRIP DOWN THE MISSISSIPPI. RESILIENCY MENTORING PROGRAMTHE RESILIENCY MENTORING PROGRAM WORK WITH GIRLS AND BOYS, AGES 9-17, WHO ARE IN NEED OF SUPPORTIVE SERVICES, AT HIGH RISK FOR OUT-OF-HOME PLACEMENT, IN RESIDENTIAL, COMMUNITY-BASED PLACEMENT, OR RETURNING TO THE COMMUNITY FROM RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT. IN 2002, 180 DEGREES, INC. WAS AWARDED A CONTINUUM OF CARE GRANT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS TO IMPLEMENT A GENDER-SPECIFIC PROGRAM FOR FEMALES INVOLVED IN THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM. OUR PROGRAM FOCUSED ON PROVIDING INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP MENTORING THAT ADDRESSED THE SPECIFIC NEEDS OF GIRLS. IN A ONE-YEAR PERIOD, 80% OF THE GIRLS WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE PROGRAM DID NOT RE-OFFEND, OR WERE DISCHARGED FROM PROBATION. AS A RESULT OF THE SUCCESS IN THE FIRST YEAR, WE EXPANDED OUR PROGRAM TO WORK WITH MALES AND FEMALES OUTSIDE OF THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM. OUR MENTORING PROGRAM'S PHILOSOPHIC PREMISE MAINTAINS THAT CONNECTING YOUTH WITH A SUPPORTIVE ADULT AND PROVIDING A SAFE PLACE FOR YOUTH TO ADDRESS THEIR NEEDS AND DEVELOP SKILLS TO BE SUCCESSFUL LIFE IMPROVE COURSE OUTCOMES. WE CONTINUE TO MATCH GIRLS AND BOYS WITH INDIVIDUAL MENTORS AND PROVIDE GROUP MENTORING TO GIRLS IN THE COMMUNITY USING THE GIRLS CIRCLE MODEL AND THE VOICES CURRICULUM.PROVIDES INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP MENTORING TO 150 RAMSEY COUNTY YOUTH EACH YEAR. MENTORING - TAILORED INTERVENTION1. REGULAR COMMUNICATION WITH MENTEE, CASE MANAGER, PARENTS AND MENTOR.2. COMPLETED USER FRIENDLY ONLINE PROGRAM WHERE CLIENTS, PARENTS, CASE MANAGERS CAN INDIVIDUALLY SHARE AND UPDATE INFORMATION ON CLIENT PROGRESS.ST. PAUL PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND SUBURBAN RAMSEY ON-TRACK PROGRAMSTHE ONTRACK PROGRAM IS HOUSED IN THE RAMSEY COUNTY HUMAN SERVICES BUILDING IN THE JUVENILE DELINQUENCY UNIT. THE ONTRACK CASE MANAGERS WORK INTENSELY WITH YOUTH THAT HAVE BEEN PLACED ON JUVENILE PROBATION FOR THE STATUS OFFENSE OF TRUANCY, AND PROVIDE SUPPORT AND ACCOUNTABILITY TO THE YOUTH AND THEIR FAMILIES. THE ONTRACK CASE MANAGERS CONFER WITH SCHOOL OFFICIALS, PARENTS, AND OTHER CAREGIVERS TO DETERMINE WHAT COMMUNITY BASED PROGRAMS AND SERVICES WOULD BE APPROPRIATE BASED ON THE YOUTH'S NEEDS.
