Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

The form 990 is shared with the board of directors for review and approval prior to filing with the irs.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

The executive director's responsibility is to ensure compliance with policies established by the board of directors. The policy covers family and business relationships. Compliance with the conflict of interest policy is monitored on an annual basis by the annual disclosure statements.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

The board of directors appointed a personnel committee to determine compensation for all employees. The committee, and then the full board, reviewed salary and benefit packages from national and regional sources in nonprofits, as well as the american camp association's salary survey. Comparing organizations similar to setebaid services, the committee did note that larger and more affluent camps could afford higher salaries. The board recognizes salaries could possibly be increased, if warranted, with a sustained increase in revenues.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

Documents are always available upon request. Most policies are online at the organization's website and financial statements are in the annual report that is distributed to the public.

Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

Form 990, Part III, Line 2

Setebaid operated a family day at knoebels amusement resort; the purpose was to offer a program for those families whose children were too young to be vaccinated against covid-19 (which meant they were not able to come to camp).

Financial Statement Notes

PART V, LINE 4:

The organization has donor restricted endowment funds and board designated endowment funds. The endowment funds were established for various purposes such as general operations, campership funds and to fund program supplies.

PART X, LINE 2:

The organization accounts for uncertainty in income taxes using a recognition threshold of more-likely-than-not to be sustained upon examination by the appropriate taxing authority. Measurement of the tax uncertainty occurs if the recognition threshold is met. Management determined there were no tax uncertainties that met the recognition threshold in 2021 and 2020.
