The executive director's responsibility is to ensure compliance with policies established by the board of directors.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

The board of directors appointed a personnel committee to determine compensation for all employees, including the executive director, and all other office and camp staff. The committee reviewed salary and benefit packages from natioinal sources in nonprofit, and specifically used the american camp association's salary survey based on job descriptions. The final step they used was comparing organizations similar to setebaid services by looking at what other organizations that operate diabetes camps in the us pay their staff based on job descriptions. At the time, it was found that setebaid services salaries were below what other organizations were paying. So the board adopted a 5 year plan to get the salaries close to the average of similar organizations.

IRS990/Desc0CAMP SETEBAID IS A CAMP FOR CHILDREN AND TEENS WITH DIABETES. IN 2014, THERE WERE 3 SESSIONS: CAMP SETEBAID AT SWATARA FOR AGES 8-18, THE COUNSELOR-IN-TRAINING PROGRAM FOR TEENS (16-17) WANTING TO BECOME CAMP COUNSELORS, AND CAMP SETEBAID AT MOUNT LUTHER FOR AGES 8-13. THE CAMP INCLUDES ARCHERY, ARTS & CRAFTS, BOATING, HIKING, SWIMMING, SINGING, AND MANY OTHER CAMP ACTIVITIES. THE DIFFERENCE IS THAT ALL CAMPERS HAPPEN TO HAVE DIABETES. CAMP SETEBAID MET THE MISSION BY TRAINING OVER 158 CAMPERS HOW TO MAINTAIN GOOD GLYCEMIC CONTROL WHILE LIVING NORMAL FUN-FILLED LIVES AND BY TRAINING OVER 32 HEALTHCARE PROFSSIONALS OR FUTURE HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS HOW TO WORK WITH PATIENTS WHO HAVE DIABETES AND BY WORKING WITH THE HELMSLEY CHARITABLE TRUST AND LURIE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL TO STUDY THE BENEITS OF CAMPS FOR YOUTH WITH DIABETES. THE CAMP ENABLED THE CAMPERS TO MEET OTHERS LIVING WITH DIABETES, OFFERED PARENTS A BREAK FROM CARING FOR CHILDREN WITH DIABETES, FOSTERED MORE INDEPENDENCE IN THE CAMPERS, AND ENABLED THE CAMPERS TO INTERACT WITH HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS IN A NON-CLINICAL SETTING.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0THE HARRISBURG DIABETIC YOUTH CAMP WAS HELD AT CAMP SWATARA IN BETHEL, PA FOR CHILDREN AND TEENS AGES 8-15 WITH DIABETES. THE CAMP OPERATES LIKE A NORMAL CAMP FOR CHILDREN AND TEENS, BUT THE DIFFERENCE IS ALL CAMPERS HAVE DIABETES. ACTIVITIES INCLUDE ARCHERY, ARTS & CRAFTS, HIKING, BOATING, SWIMMING, SINGING, TEAM BUILDING ON THE ROPES COURSE, AND MANY OTHER CAMP ACTIVITIES. THE CAMP MET THE MISSION BY TRAINING 31 CAMPERS HOW TO MAINTAIN GOOD GLYCEMIC CONTROL WHILE LIVING NORMAL, HEALTHY, FUN-FILLED LIVES AND BY TRAINING 6 HEALTHCARE PROFSSIONALS OR FUTURE HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS HOW TO WORK WITH PATIENTS WHO HAVE DIABETES AND BY WORKING WITH THE HELMSLEY CHARITABLE TRUST AND LURIE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL TO STUDY THE BENEITS OF CAMPS FOR YOUTH WITH DIABETES. THE CAMP ENABLED THE CAMPERS TO MEET OTHERS LIVING WITH DIABETES, OFFERED PARENTS A BREAK FROM CARING FOR CHILDREN WITH DIABETES, FOSTERED MORE INDEPENDENCE IN THE CAMPERS, ENABLED THE CAMPERS TO INTERACT WITH HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS IN A NON-CLINICAL SETTING, AND TAOUGHT CHILDREN THAT LIVING WITH DIABETES IS NOT A RESTRICTIVE LIFESTYLE.
