Mission

Community learning center helps low-income adults in philadelphia gain academic and employment skills so they can realize their fullest potential at home and in the workforce.

Major Activities

Activity 2
Student support services -with the guidance of clc's career coaches, students explore career interests and set self-directed goals. Our career coaches help students develop life and employability skills and advance to jobs, vocational training, college, or other post-secondary education. Our career coaches also refer students to community resources to help them overcome challenges, such as domestic abuse, inadequate shelter, or parenting issues that can otherwise be barriers to attending classes and reaching goals.
Activity 3
Pde - the executive director is one of five lead consultants for the pa department of education (pde) division of adult education and postsecondary education's professional development system. In this role, she is a member of a statewide system which guides and coordinates professional development activities for agencies receiving pde funding. Lead consultants work with pde-funded adult education agencies to develop program improvement plans and build capacity to monitor continuous improvement efforts. These plans guide the agencies' professional development activities in order to improveprogram and student outcomes. She spends 12-15 hours per week in this role. Her activities include participating in weekly lead consultant conference calls, calls and email to agencies to facilitate professional development activities, writing reports, developing data collection forms, and consulting with the division of adult education on agency and research matters.
