Mission

To advance the practice, science, and profession of project management throughout the world in a conscious and proactive manner. Pmi's envisioned goal as stated in its strategic plan is: empowering people to make ideas a reality.

Major Activities

Activity 2
Standards: pmi is the leading global developer of project management standards. Project managers around the world have the opportunity to volunteer for the standards development process and to submit their input in developing pmi's standards. The fourth edition of a guide to the project management body of knowledge (pmbok guide), the leading global standards for project management, along with three other standards which include the standard for portfolio management (second edition), the standard for program management (second edition), and the organizational project management maturity model (opm3) comprise the most comprehensive set of standards available for individuals and organizations in the field of project management.
Activity 3
Publications: pmi publishes books, research papers, and a quarterly technical journal to enhance the knowledge available to organizations and individuals in the field of project management. Pmi's premier publication, pm network, is distributed monthly to over 352,000 members in 184 countries and to 280 libraries internationally.
