MISSION-BASED ADVOCACY EFFORTS RAISE AWARENESS, OFFER ISSUE EDUCATION, AND BUILD SOCIAL CAPITAL AROUND WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT, RACIAL AND SOCIAL JUSTICE AND INEQUITIES, AND SAFE AND HEALTHY COMMUNITIESSEE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON SCHEDULE O.YW'S PROGRAMMING ADAPTED IN RESPONSE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN MARCH 2020, SHIFTING PROGRAMS TO A VIRTUAL PLATFORM, DEVELOPING HYBRID PROGRAMS THAT COMBINE IN-PERSON AND VIRTUAL LEARNING, AND HELPING TO ENSURE THAT EVERY PARTICIPANT HAD ACCESS TO ONLINE PROGRAMMING. EARLY EDUCATION - THE EARLY EDUCATION CENTER HELPS CHILDREN AND FAMILIES ACHIEVE KINDERGARTEN READINESS AND SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL WELL-BEING THROUGH AFFORDABLE, HIGH-QUALITY PRESCHOOL EDUCATION. MORE THAN 120 CHILDREN AGES 6 WEEKS TO 6 YEARS OLD ARE ENROLLED IN THE INFANT, TODDLER, PRESCHOOL, EARLY HEAD START AND PRE-K COUNTS CLASSROOMS. PRE-K COUNTS IS A FULL DAY PROGRAM FOR 3 TO 5 YEAR OLD CHILDREN WHO ARE AT-RISK FOR SCHOOL FAILURE. CLASSROOM TEACHERS USE CREATIVE CURRICULUM AND TEACHING STRATEGIES GOLD ASSESSMENT TOOLS TO ENSURE CHILDREN ARE MEETING AGE-APPROPRIATE MILESTONES. CHILDREN ARE ALSO SCREENED USING AGES AND STAGES QUESTIONNAIRE TO DETERMINE ANY EARLY INTERVENTION AND/OR BEHAVIORAL SUPPORT. YW EARLY EDUCATION CENTER IS A KEYSTONE STARS 4 FACILITY. BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT FOR 85 CHILDREN K-6 INCLUDES HOMEWORK HELP AND TUTORING, NUTRITION AND FITNESS ACTIVITES, CREATIVE EXPRESSION, AND STEAM EXPLORATION. STUDENTS IMPROVE ACADEMIC SKILLS THROUGH HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE, TUTORING TO ENHANCE READING AND MATH SKILLS, AND WORKING THROUGH SCIENCE PROJECTS. THE PROGRAM ESTABLISHES A ROUTINE FOR ACADEMIC SUCCESS, SUPPORTS POSITIVE LEARNING OUTCOMES, AND DELIVERS A SAFE AND STRUCTURED ENVIORNMENT FOR CHILDREN BETWEEN THE TIME SCHOOL ENDS AND WHEN PARENTS ARE FINISHED WITH THEIR WORK DAY. CAMP ADVENTURES, A FULL-TIME DAY CAMP OFFERED TO CHILDREN AGES 4-12, OFFERS OPPORTUNITIES FOR CHILDREN TO SPEND THEIR SUMMER DAYS EXPLORING, CREATING, AND LEARNING. CAMPERS SPEND TIME OUTDOORS, HIKING AND LEARNING ABOUT THE NATURAL ENVIORNMENT AND THEIR ROLE IN IT, AND ENJOYING BOTH INSTRUCTIONAL AND FREE TIME IN THE POOL. APPROXIMATELY 80% OF FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN IN THE YWCA'S EARLY EDUCATION AND OUT-OF-SCHOOL-TIME PROGRAMS QUALIFY FOR A STATE CHILD CARE SUBSIDY TO SUPPORT INCREASED OPPORTUNITIES FOR FAMILIES TO ACCESS QUALITY EARLY EDUCATION PROGRAMS.

IN 2019-20, 40 FOSTER GRANDPARENTS MENTORED 57 CHILDREN IN SEVERAL ELEMETARY SCHOOLS AND HEAD START CLASSROOMS. YW, PARTNERING WITH TRICOUNTY COMMUNITY NETWORK AND GREEN ALLIES, EMBARKED UPON A THREE-YEAR VISTA PROJECT WHICH WILL RESEARCH THE NEEDS OF YOUTH IN POTTSTOWN. VISTA MEMBERS WILL ASSESS EXISTING COMMUNITY SERVICES AND THE EXTENT TO WHICH POTTSTOWN FAMILIES USE THEM; IDENTIFY GAPS IN SERVICES AND BARRIERS PREVENTING FAMILIES FROM ACCESSING SERVICES; IDENTIFY POTENTIAL SOLUTIONS TO BRIDGE GAPS; AND BUILD A SYSTEM OF INFORMATION AND DELIVERY THROUGH A SINGLE POINT OF ENTRY. WITH THIS NEW SYSTEM, CHILDREN IN NEED WILL BE MORE READILY IDENTIFIED AND CONNECTED TO SERVICES. WITH A CONSISTENT AND COORDINATED SUPPORT SERVICE, CHILDREN WILL ARRIVE IN SCHOOL READY TO LEARN, AND WILL HAVE THE GREATEST CHANCE OF SUCCESS IN SCHOOL. ISSUE EDUCATION PROJECTS INCLUDE ANNUAL PARTICIPATION IN YWCA USA'S SIGNATURE CAMPAIGNS, STAND AGAINST RACISM AND WEEK WITHOUT VIOLENCE; IMPLICIT BIAS TRAINING FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS; AND EQUITY IN EDUCATION. YW STAFF DEVELOPED A CURRICULUM FOCUSING ON IMPLICIT BIASES, AND PRESENTED IMPLICIT BIAS TRAINING TO EDUCATORS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS. TEEN DATING VIOLENCE AWARENESS ASSEMBLIES ALLOW TEENS TO ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT EMOTIONAL, SOCIAL, AND PHYSICAL ABUSE. THE ANNUAL WEEK WITHOUT VIOLENCE CAMPAIGN RAISES AWARENESS AND PROPOSES SOLUTIONS TO VIOLENCE IN OUR SOCIETY IN GENERAL, ESPECIALLY VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN.
