Financial Statement Notes

PART III, LINE 1A:

We are proud that in 2018 we continued to support and further develop our three sub-missions. Examples are as follows: inspire: as a national historic landmark, inspire people - especially children - to learn and appreciate information technology to improve their lives and career opportunities. Infoage continues to expand on its history as the site that opened up space communications via project diana in 1946 with three distinct programs centered on space and space exploration: space exploration week: the "space exploration week" summer program for school age children from first through twelfth grade continues to be a huge success. They studied about earth, the solar system, the galaxy, the universe, rocketry, and outer space observation and the culmination of the week long program presented the students with the opportunity to record them bouncing their voices off the moon using our 60 foot tlm 18 radio telescope. The 60 year old tlm 18 was restored to operating condition in 2016 by infoage, princeton university and the harris corporation. In 2019 the summer program will include offering 10 "scholarships" to students from inner city schools. Space exploration lecture series: this series was initiated in 2018 to bring in speakers that present the exploration of outer space. Astronauts, astronomers, astrophysicists and others will continue to be among the guest speakers. The intent is to engage the interested public - especially college-bound students - on topics that range from studying the universe to walking on distant planets, and beyond. In 2018, the first speaker in the series was ms. Alice bowman, the mission operations manager for the new horizons mission to pluto. She is the first woman to fill that role at the applied physics laboratory, taking on the position in 2002 specifically for the duration of the three billion-mile space journey. The presenter for 2019 was scheduled to be ms. Kim arcand, visualization and emerging technology lead for nasa's flagship chandra x-ray observatory. Spaceflight lecture series: this series of monthly lectures and discussions at the infoage space exploration center (isec) are presented by a nasa ambassador and that addressed subjects from "project gemini: how nasa learned to fly and work in space" to "new horizons at pluto: discoveries at the dwarf planet". In cooperation with the nj institute of electrical and electronic engineers (ieee), over 80 budding scientists and engineers from ocean and monmouth county high schools participated in the infoage ieee mini academy. Under the supervision of infoage docents, the students built radio transmitters to discover the technology behind telecommunications. They learned how to tune radio receivers and listen to radio broadcasts from stations as far away as california. During the infoage visit, students completed hands-on projects and learned how scientists and engineers approach and solve complex technical problems. Over 800 students from 15 schools - grammar schools through rensselaer polytechnic institute - and over 450 lakewood, nj non-secterian students conducted class visits to our campus where docents introduced them the science and technology behind today's modern technologies. Students were introduced to the history of electronic communication and its evolution to the computers, cell phones, etc. That are part of their daily life in this modern age. Infoage began planning of two exhibits in 2019. The first is the "new jersey 9-11 tribute center and the second is the "lenape indians". 1.) "nj 9-11 tribute center": members of infoage planned for and are in the process of building an extensive 9/11 exhibit. Our exhibit is dedicated to the men and women who responded to the aftermath of the attack on the world trade center. It will feature ground zero dioramas, uniforms worn by nj responders, artifacts, photos and much more. We are high lighting operations conducted by the nj national guard after the attack. IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0WE ARE PROUD THAT IN 2018 WE CONTINUED TO SUPPORT AND FURTHER DEVELOP OUR THREE SUB-MISSIONS.
