“Njio produced 4 full symphonic concerts for the community during the year. One of the concerts was a family concert. The winner and runner-up of njio young artists concerto competition performed in 2 of the concerts. Njio held 28 rehearsals in advance of the 4 concerts which served as learning experiences for its members. In addition njios outreach group performed at 10 venues-primarily senior centers, assisted living or nuring homes to bring music to those who cannot easily attend njio concerts. The repertoire is light classical and the ensemble consists of 4 to 20 members depending on the requirement of the venue. Njio hosted two 4 week summer chamber music workshops. Njio members have ranged in age from 6 to 94 and have come from over 44 communities throughout new jersey. Njio continued its golden strings program started in 2016 which provides free instrument rental and freeinstruction to seniors desiring to learn how to play an instrument and participate in a beginner ensemble. A group met 10 times and the ptogram was enthusiastically received.”
