We, the people of rhode island, associate ourselves for the purpose of providing a local forum and home for the arts, through the maintenance of residential and work studios, galleries, performance and educational spaces. Exhibitions and (continued on schedule o)performances in the forum will be unjuried, uncensored and open to the general public. Our facilities and services are made available to all artists who need a place to exhibit, perform, or create their original artwork, especially those who cannot obtain space to exhibit or perform from traditional sources because of financial or other limitations.
We envision a just world where all people can realize their full creative potential.

“The form 990 is prepared by the managing director. The board has delegated the thorough review of the form 990 to the risk management committee. The risk management committee reviews the form 990 electronically. Once the risk management committee is satisfied with the form, it is shared with the board of directors electronically; the board is asked if they have any questions or comments and any questions are reviewed. If no other changes are necessary, the form is then submitted to the irs.”
“The organization's conflict of interest policy is provided to all officers, directors and key employees. Annually, these individuals are asked to review the policy and sign a statement indicating that they understand the policy, have reported all potential conflicts during the past year in accordance with the policy and will report all potential conflicts during the coming year. All potential conflicts are evaluated by the chair of the board of directors to determine if a conflict actually exists. In those instances where the potential transaction is a conflict, the board examines the transaction and a vote is taken (with those involved recusing themselves) as to whether the organization will enter into the transaction.”
“As220 has an equal pay policy, under which all staff are compensated at the same rate of pay for their services. Compensation is determined in conjunction with the budgeting process. Annually, staff proposes a draft budget, which is reviewed in detail by the risk management committee. During this process, the risk management committee discusses the proposed rate of compensation and any pay increases with staff. The risk management committee considers comparable rates of compensation in the area and in similar organizations. Once the risk management committee is satisfied as to the proposed compensation, it makes a recommendation to the board of directors as part of the budget approval process. The board discusses any changes to the compensation rate and their budgetary impact, and approves a compensation rate for the staff. Any changes to compensation outside of the annual process are also recommended by the risk management committee and approved by the board.”
“As220 makes its governing documents, conflict of interest policy and financial statements available to the public upon request.”
“As220 evaluates all significant tax positions as required under gaap. As of the year ended june 30, 2016, the organization does not believe it has taken any positions that would require the recording of any additional tax liability nor does it believe there are any realized tax benefits that would either increase or decrease within the next twelve months. As220's income tax returns are subject to examination by the appropriate taxing jurisdiction. As of the year ended june 30, 2016, as220's income tax returns remain open for three years from the date filed with each taxing jurisdiction.”
