We the people of Rhode Island associate ourselves for the purpose of providing a local forum and home for the arts through the maintenance of residential and work studios galleries performance and educational spaces. Exhibitions and performances in the forum will be unjuried uncensored and open to the general public. Our facilities and services are made available to all artists who need a place to exhibit perform or create their original artwork especially those who cannot obtain space to exhibit or perform from traditional sources because of financial or other limitations.

“The organizations conflict of interest policy is provided to all officers directors and key employees. Annually these individuals are asked to review the policy and sign a statement indicating that they understand the policy have reported all potential conflicts during the past year in accordance with the policy and will report all potential conflicts during the coming year. All potential conflicts are evaluated by the chair of the board of directors to determine if a conflict actually exists. In those instances where the potential transaction is a conflict the board examines the transaction and a vote is taken with those involved recusing themselves as to whether the organization will enter into the transaction.”
“AS220 has an Equitable Pay process that was launched in 2023. A staff committee and the Leadership Team collaborated with the Board of Directors to design a pay structure incorporating tiers for different levels of responsibilities supervisory responsibility and tenure. The Board reviewed proposed new compensation tiers and the current budget to determine pay levels that are reasonable as a starting point in this transition. Through a formula new compensation was approved by the Board of Directors for the Co-Executive Directors as well as other senior members of the AS220 staff. On an ongoing basis compensation is determined in conjunction with the annual budgeting process: staff propose a draft budget which is reviewed in detail by the Risk & Finance Committee including changes to the Equitable Pay rates.”

“The Organizations evaluate all significant tax positions as required by GAAP. As of the June 30 2024 the organization does not believe it has taken any positions that would require the recording of any additional tax liability nor does it believe there are any realized tax benefits that would either increase or decrease within the next twelve months. The Organizations income tax returns are subject to examination by the appropriate taxing jurisdiction and remain open for review for three years from the date filed with each taxing jurisdiction.”

AS220 Youth operates out of 3 primary locations: the Downtown Youth Studio; Nowell Academy a charter school focusing on pregnant and parenting teens; and the Rhode Island Training School the states juvenile detention center where we have been working for over 25 years. This exposure to the arts taps into often-overlooked creative potential offering a powerful learning experience for young people. In FY2024 AS220 Youth ran 92 ongoing classes and served 360 young people including 83 Youth apprentices. AS220 Youth also premiered 2 full studio shows in FY24: FUTUREWORLDS 7 in September 2023 and FUTUREWORLDS 8 in June 2024. |
