Activity 2

Health informatics (hi):in humanitarian crises, saving lives often boils down to managing health. Responding to the health needs of those at risk in emergency environments is fundamental to resolving social, political and environmental challenges. Immap is working closely with the us centers for disease control and prevention (cdc), the united nations high commissioner for refugees (unhcr), and the world health organization (who) in a number of complementary areas that include refugee health management, assisting victims of violence and the disabled, and assessing and managing health infrastructure and services.

Activity 3

Humanitarian information rapid response teams (hirrt):humanitarian organizations responding to crises desperately need seasoned information managers. When a crisis erupts, immap fills this critical void by providing full service teams and technical advisors to kick-start organizational problem solving. Immap has standing agreements to provide support to establish and manage united nations joint logistics centers and mine action coordination centers, and is regularly called upon to support united nations humanitarian information centers. However, response is only part of the equation, in the course of providing services, immap experts learn what types of products and methods are most needed and which are not. To effectively and efficiently save lives, immap is committed to building field craft and turning these experiences into a body of professional practice and knowledge.
