| 2015 year continues to be an exciting and fruitful year for the Bo Ai School, which the Overseas Helping Hands Organization supports. 2015 is the Tenth Anniversary of the Bo Ai School. The Bo Ai Elementary School opened its doors on April 9th 2005 to 130 village students who moved from the unsafe, dilapidated old school to the then brand new Bo Ai School. Since then in 2012, we built the Bo Ai Middle School. To date in2015, Bo Ai has 427 boarding students, a staff of 48 teachers and 24 ancillary staff. Bo Ai School has come to be named the Model School of the region. Bo Ai School is operated as a private school with total private school governance. Throughout 2015 year, 675 Chinese nationals and foreign nationals from the United States, Hong Kong and Canada came to serve and to help celebrate the Anniversaryof the School. Of note, educators from the Province, from Hong Kong, from the United States came to hold seminars for the staff, for the parents and for the principals and teachers of the region. Many came to teach English or just to show their love for our young students. The Hong Kong Holmglad Schools also for the eighth year sponsored three of our teachers to visit the Hong Kong Holmglad Elementary and Middle Schools to learn how education is conducted outside the confines of the region. Three of our English teachers also went to faraway QuiZhou to a special English Seminar. During the second year in a row Summer Camp, the Soong Ching Ling Foundation and the U. S. CEO Global Education Foundation came with 80 Chinese University Students and 30 US University Students to instil self confidence and to tell 200 of the regional, screened, poor, deserving Eighth Grade village students that they are unique, loved and have a future waiting for them and how to plan for their future. At the summer camp, the students, with help from Professor Lam Yuk Fei, built a Model City using recycled material and also painted a Wall Mural with a theme of what they would envision for their future. In 2015, Bo Ai graduated its first ever group of Middle School Ninth Grade Students. We are happy to report that Bo Ai School ranked Number Two, out of eight county middle Schools, this inspite of the fact that the 42 remaining students were mediocre students. They remained when Bo Ai opened the Middle School on short notice. The good students had already left for other city schools. 2015 is also the year when Bo Ai formed the Bo Ai School Alumni Association and held its first reunion during the summer. Out of 454 graduates, 120 graduates came to the Alumni Meeting. What makes us proud is that they mentioned time and again the character building education, habits they formed, willingness to serve and the cooperative spirit they gained at Bo Ai serve them well in their daily lives, in work and in society. Two are in medical school, one is in law school, one had attended broadcasting school. Over thirty are attending universities. A few are married and two are mothers with a baby each. The Alumni Association will meet every three to five years at this time. We hope that in ten, fifteen, twenty years, the alumni will come back and help Bo Ai. Bo Ai is still without a principal and Bo Ai has instituted a twelve directorship to manage and govern the school and this has served the school well. Bo Ai has also instituted the Three Level Teaching, the modern teaching method instead of the old rote memory teaching method. We are still new at this and will need at leavel 2- 4 years to come to a mature Three Level Teaching. Many needs remain have to be met. The Elementary School dormitory is 10 years old, The lavatories, the showers, the peeling cement floors have to be repaired and remodelled. The Running Tract and soccer field remain to be built,. Bo Ai School will still need many continuing education seminars for our teachers Many students still need to be sponsored. We look to the future with confidence because so many visotors who had come, come back to help and serve time and again. In 2016, five NEW mission teams will be coming, besides the many who are coming year after year. . They come because they have heard and seen that Bo Ai is a unique school that help the needy village students and that Bo Ai is doing it in an exemplary, excellent manner. | $0 | $10,782 |
