| The Year 2014 is an amazing year. A Year that I will remember all my life. The Lord has spared my life that I can continue to share His Love at Bo Ai School. The car accident on February 16th caused me to stay at a Chinese Hospital for 16 days, then returned to the Portland Hospital for neck surgery. 2014 is an exceptional year. 558 teachers and friends on 24 separate occasions, singly or multiple persons at a time came to visit our school. This included 155 from overseas - Hong Kong, Macau. from the United States, Canada, Norway and 403 Chinese nationals from Beijing, Shanghai, Changzhi, Qinyuan. They all came at their own expense to serve, to minister to our students, to teach, to play with them, to give seminars. A highlight of the year has to be the CJ Summer camp that was held from July 27 to August 3 at our Bo Ai School. The CEO Global Education Foundation and the Soong Ching Ling Foundation chose our school for its annual CJ Camp. 30 university volunteers from the United States and 100 Chinese university students from major Chinese universities led the summer camp for 80 of our middle school students and 120 middle school students from our regional Qinyuan middle schools. All are village children. The criteria was that they all had to come from poor families. Each day was built around a theme: 1. You are Special 2. You are Lovable and you are Loved 3. You are Capable and you are Needed 4. Your Life has a Purpose and your Life has Meaning 5. You can plan your Future. The camp was replete with activities to get to know the students and each other and with games relating to the theme of the day. Many friendships were formed. Many tears were shed at parting time. The two Foundations were very pleased with our implementation of the facility, lodging and food for the event that it will hold the CJ Camp again at our Bo Ai School next summer. After ten years of pioneering and loyal service at Bo Ai School, Principal Xin retired on the month of April at the age of seventy-one. We are fortune that we were able to engage the services of Principal Zhao- Li-Cheng and Vice Principal Jiang Xin-Zhai to take Principal Xin's position. Bo Ai is truly blessed and grateful that Principal Xin came at a time when the elementary school was not yet built and together we lived in a hut, saw the structures going up, the curriculum planned and the initial staff hired. We saw the children entering the Bo Ai School, growing, learning and graduating. As a parting gift, we flew her to the United States for 40 days so she could have a taste of the education, of the people, of the culture and of life in the United States. At the end of the trip she would like to stay in United States if only she could! In June of 2015, we will have the first Graduating Class for our Middle School! The Middle School has been built two and a half years already and in 2015 Bo Ai will celebrate our School's Tenth Anniversary and the Middle School Dedication. Already many volunteers are already signing up to come to participate at the year long Celebration. Each year at Thanksgiving, Bo Ai picks a project to help the less fortunate. This Thanksgiving, Bo Ai raised the awareness of our students on the plight of our seventh grade student, Quo Jiang-Chao, who was afflicted with Juvenile Diabetes. He comes from a single parent family - raised by his disabled, wheel-bound father. Our students and staff raised 10,000 yuan to help with his medical expenses. For the sixth year, the Holmglad Mission Schools of Mission Covenant Church in Hong Kong sent four of our teachers to learn about education in Hong Kong. We are grateful to the Annie Skau Foundation of Norway for funding this project. The Sidel Machinery (Beijing) Co., Ltd funded the much needed Physics and the Biology-Chemistry Labs. In the very near future the Project Torch of Hong Kong, the Fok Wing Yu Foundation and Leonard Girard are giving scholarships to deserving students to attend Senior High Schools, or to attend higher education at universities. We are grateful to all for giving hope to our students to attain high education. | $50,000 | $4,652 |
