Mission and Program Overview

Mission

We are organized for prevention of cruelty to animals. We rescue, rehabilitate and find good homes for abandoned and abused animals. Our Mission Statement: Our primary goal is to remove dogs in danger of being euthanized from shelter environments and foster them until permanent homes are found through our adoption programs. We believe in the spay and neuter of all animals, regardless of breed, in order to aid in the prevention of pet overpopulation. We provide our dogs with shelter, proper veterinary care and any required rehabilitation. Our dogs come to us from a variety of different sources such as rescues from our city and county shelters and strays and pets who are neglected or abandoned due to bad economic times.Who We Are: Animals Rule Placement Foundation is a registered tax exempt 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Animal Welfare organization, Tax ID #13-4264510. 2015 Accomplishments:We are very proud of our accomplishments in 2015. We rescued and adopted out a total of 127 animals. 106 were dogs, 17 were cats, 2 were guinea pigs and for the first time 2 snakes. All 106 dogs and 17 cats were spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. Many of our dogs had dental cleanings with extractions and/or special orthopedic surgeries, in addition to the basics to make them ready for their forever homes. The breakdowns of our activity in 2015 follows. We saved a total of 28 dogs on their last day from various city and county shelters. We took in 38 owner surrendered dogs thus preventing them from entering the shelter system. These dogs were surrendered to us for various reasons, such as housing relocations, job layoffs, and straight up financial difficulties. Some of these families lost their homes and could not even afford basic veterinarian care for their dogs. We took in 46 stray dogs as well as 4 dogs whose owners died. We took in 2 dogs from Manhattan Beach Animal Control and we took in 11 dogs from Washington Blvd Animal Hospital who were surrendered due to an unaffordable medical condition or to be euthanized. Our volunteer Emily, who is a Registered Veterinarian Technician (RVT), has started a program there to offer the public the choice of rescue placement instead of euthanasia. This is the 3rd year that we have participated in Downtown Dog Rescue's shelter intervention program where we took in 2 dogs being turned in at the front of the South LA Shelter. In addition to all of this, we were able to assist 9 low income/homeless families with pet food and veterinarian assistance throughout the year. We helped 6 families with spay/neuter of their personal pets thus helping to keep them in their current homes. In April 2015 we attended the Americas Family Pet Expo at the Orange County Fairgrounds in which we adopted 5 dogs into new homes and raised $2,362 to help pay for our veterinarian bills and specialty surgeries. On June 6-7 we attended the Palos Verdes Street Fair where 3 dogs were adopted and $178 was raised for our dogs medical needs. In October 2015 we attended the Manhattan Beach Fire Department's Hometown Fair and we adopted 7 dogs into good homes and raised $1,919 to help pay for our veterinarian bills. At each of these adoption events our volunteers interacted with the public and provided educational material on the importance of spay/neuter, yearly vaccines, and microchipping. We placed several 'special needs' animals this year that we are quite proud of. For the first time ever we adopted out 2 snakes that were abandoned. We received a Doberman Pincher from Washington Blvd Animal Hospital that was close to death due to untreated mange. After 4 months of medication and veterinarian care we nursed him back to health and adopted him out. Another dog we received this year was from Bark Works Pet Store in Cerritos. They were selling poorly bred puppy mill dogs. We received a black lab that at 6 months of age needed bilateral hip surgery due to advanced hip dysplasia. She got her surgery and was placed in a home this last December. A Schnauzer came to us with an extreme right front leg fracture from kids in the home. After surgery and 3 months of rehab, she was also adopted. We received a Pug who collapsed from heat exhaustion at the Downey Shelter, he went in to have his elongated palate shortened so he could breath better and an eye removed from a birth deformity. We accomplished all of this while holding down jobs of our own, marriages, and mortgages. We are dedicated to the well being of our rescue dogs and we love each and every one who passes through our rescue on their way to forever homes. Please help us rescue even more animals in 2016 by donating to our cause. It may be time to give back and help make a difference in the lives of homeless pets.
