“Service trips - in 2019, achf continued its volunteer efforts exclusively in mexico. We ran 24 mexico service trips, taking 920 volunteers to three orphanages in baja california, mexico: casa hogar buena vida, rancho de los ninos, and casa hogar de maria inmaculada a.c (nuestra familia). We also took volunteers to rancho del nino orphanage in guaymas, sonora, mexico. On these trips, we delivered groceries, toys, clothing, educational and medical supplies. We purchased building materials for our volunteers to repair and remodel these orphanages. Additionally, we focused on building relationships with the children by playing with them and taking them on outings to the zoo, beach, and soccer fields. In addition to our mexico trips, we completed an exploratory trip to bethlehem in the middle east. On this trip, we build relationships for future partnerships and did construction projects at three orphanages in the area.”

“Orphanage development & certification program - outside of monetary and supply donations given to orphanages as part of our volunteer service trips, achf gave monetary donations and grants to six orphanages and two domestic organizations in 2019. Four of the orphanages are mexican orphanages, one is the csedi orphanage in haiti, and one is the al zahra orphanage near bethlehem. The domestic organizations are we are church (formerly known as baja family outreach), a group that assists impoverished children in tijuana, mexico, and corazon de vida, a nonprofit located in irvine, ca, that provides support to orphanages throughout the baja california region of mexico. 37% of granted funds were used by the orphanages for their day-to-day operations, such as buying groceries and paying their bills; 25% was granted between haiti and nuestra familia for major construction projects (building a roof and completing a new teen dorm); 13% of funds were granted to help orphanages improve toward certification by funding therapists, tutors, and other local workers, as well as increasing wages to house parents; 12% was used for special items such as ac units, new stoves, and new mattresses for the orphanages; 8% was used specifically for supplies for nursery-aged children (newborn to five years of age); and the remaining 5% was given to cover tuition for orphaned children now attending college or trade school, purchase gifts for the children for christmas, and to support we are churchs breakfast club program in tijuana. In addition to these grants, achf also granted 1400 in scholarships to a volunteer family to enable them to attend one of our service trips.”
