IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0BUILDING MARKETS: THIS PROGRAM RESEARCHES AND SUPPORTS MARKETS THAT ARE AN IMPORTANT BRIDGE BETWEEN COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND FARMERS; EXPANDS MARKET ACCESS FOR FARMERS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS; AND RESEARCHES AND EDUCATES FARMERS ABOUT NEW MARKET OPPORTUNITIES TO EXPAND AWARENESS ABOUT LOCAL AGRICULTURE. IT ALSO PROVIDES LOW-INCOME SENIOR CITIZENS WITH A SHARE OF THE LOCAL HARVEST AND EDUCATES SENIORS AND SERVICE PROVIDERS ABOUT THE BENEFITS OF FRESH, LOCAL AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS. WE WORK DIRECTLY WITH FARMERS' MARKETS AND FARMS TO EDUCATE ABOUT EBT/SNAP ACCEPTANCE OPTIONS, AND PROVIDE SNAP MATCHING INCENTIVES AND SUPPORT FARMERS' MARKETS IN OUTREACH AND COMMUNICATIONS. THROUGH OUR SENIOR FARMSHARE PROGRAM, WE PROVIDED THESE SERVICES TO 489 SENIORS IN 2016.
