FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

Beverly bootstraps community services provides critical resources to families and individuals so they may achieve self-sufficiency. The organization offers emergency and long-term assistance including: access to food, housing stability, adult and youth education, counseling and advocacy. The organization is community funded and supported.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4C

Literacy, holiday gifts, back to school supplies and summer camp placement. During fy14, 21 children were enrolled in after school homework clubs, 657 children received holiday gifts, 730 backpacks filled with school supplies were distributed and 49 children were placed in summer camps. The earned income tax credit (eitc) outreach program provides working low income individuals and families with free tax preparation. During fy14, 185 tax returns were filed resulting in 254,773 refunds to clients; with 119,347 as a direct result of eitc funds. The organization also offered an affordable housing condominium unit for one family in need of housing. Seasonal programs are also available.

As required, management has evaluated its tax positions applying a "more likely than not" standard, and believes that there would be no material changes to the results of its operations or financial position as a result of an audit by the federal or state taxing authorities. TYPES OF ASSISTANCE INCLUDE: INTAKE AND BUDGET ASSESSMENT, HOUSING STABILITY, HEAT AND UTILITY RESOURCES, ACCESS TO CLOTHING AND GOODS, AND ACCESSING LOCAL PROGRAMS SUCH AS FUEL ASSISTANCE. DURING FY14, 1575 CLIENTS WERE ASSISTED. ADULT EDUCATION INCLUDES GED TEST PREPARATION, ENGLISH LANGUAGE CLASSES, COMPUTER TRAINING, ADULT LITERACY AND JOB READINESS. DURING FY14, 191 STUDENTS WERE ENROLLED IN ONE OF THE ADULT EDUCATION CLASSES AND 5 STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE JOB READINESS CLASS. YOUTH AND FAMILY SERVICES INCLUDE AFTER SCHOOL HOMEWORK CLUBS, YOUTH LITERACY, HOLIDAY GIFTS, BACK TO SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND SUMMER CAMP PLACEMENT. DURING FY14, 21 CHILDREN WERE ENROLLED IN AFTER SCHOOL HOMEWORK CLUBS, 657 CHILDREN RECEIVED HOLIDAY GIFTS, 730 BACKPACKS FILLED WITH SCHOOL SUPPLIES WERE DISTRIBUTED AND 49 CHILDREN WERE PLACED IN SUMMER CAMPS. THE EARNED INCOME TAX CREDIT (EITC) OUTREACH PROGRAM PROVIDES WORKING LOW INCOME INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES WITH FREE TAX PREPARATION. DURING FY14, 185 TAX RETURNS WERE FILED RESULTING IN 254,773 REFUNDS TO CLIENTS; WITH 119,347 AS A DIRECT RESULT OF EITC FUNDS. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO OFFERED AN AFFORDABLE HOUSING CONDOMINIUM UNIT FOR ONE FAMILY IN NEED OF HOUSING. SEASONAL PROGRAMS ARE ALSO AVAILABLE.
