“Art Mentoring and Education:In 2024, Venice Arts saw increased participation in its programs for childrenand teens, ages 10-18, nearly doubling in comparison to the previous year. Amongother programs, young people participated in our sequenced (beginning-to-advanced) curriculum in filmmaking, photography, animation, and comics.Our Advanced Photography students participated in a workshop focused on learning about the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII and lessons learned that could be applied to today. Venice Arts also offered its CollegePathways programs, including College Day; support for national awards andcompetitions; and support for scholarships for unique learningopportunities. The latter included 2 full scholarships to the residentialIdyllwild Arts Academy, 2 full scholarship for Otis College's Summer ofArt, 2 full scholarships to the California State Summer School for the Arts, 1 full scholarship to the Rock and Roll Camp for Girls.Venice Arts' students remain primarily low-income (92%), with over 50%living in poverty. They are highly diverse, with 84% BIPOC participantsand, while approximately 50% live in neighborhoods with high pockets ofpoverty on the west side, the balance come from throughout Los Angeles,including 31% from Pico-Union, South LA, Inglewood, and Watts, and 17% comefrom as far as East LA, Southeast LA, Boyle Heights, Norwalk and the SanFernando Valley.”

“Creative Pathways: Center For Creative Workforce Equity:The Center provides a diverse range of programs designed for low-incomeyoung people, ages 16-24, living throughout LA County and interested inworking in the arts and entertainment. These range from exposure to themyriad of pathways into work to two State-registered pre-apprenticeshipprograms (editing, digital storytelling) that result in certifications andemployment placements meant to serve as the first step on a pathway tohigh-road employment; these include internships, apprenticeships, and jobs.Priority is given to former or current foster, homeless, justice-involved,and/or LGBTQ youth.Partners include large companies (NBCU, Sony, Dreamworks, PBS SOCAL), asas well as small to midsize production studios and post-production houses. In 2024 6 pre-apprenticeship graduates were placed as apprentices with key individuals on a creative team (Producer, Director, DP, Editor) to produce PSAs for NBCU's grantees. OGraduates of CCWE are also supported in their applications for awards andother recognitions. In 2024, over 40 alumni were placed in in full-time entry level roles in the creative sector.”

“Gallery & Public Programs:In 2024, we were able to again offer in-person exhibitions of work by youngpeople in our programs. We were also able to re-launch our Public Exhibitions program, by hosting professional Venice photographer Dotan Saguys exhibition entitled Dogtown: The Pups of Venice Beach and Their Humans”

“Venice Arts' mission is to ignite, expand, and transform the lives of LosAngeles' low-income youth through photography and film education, and touse our participatory storytelling practices to amplify the voices ofunderrepresented communities around the world. We do this by buildingcreative equity for low-income youth through media arts education, collegesuccess, and creative career pathway programs where we put creativity atthe center of youth development. Our programs build skills, knowledge, andself-efficacy, while maximizing our participants' ability to find theresiliency necessary to thrive, even in the face of challenges.Venice Arts has been honored as an exemplary organization for its work by local, county and state governments.”

“Consulting ProgramsIn 2024, Venice Arts' Consulting Program, providing consulting and trainingto national and international NGOs, foundations, and academic institutionscontinued to remain on hiatus due to organizational transitions in its leadership.”
