Activity 2

New directions transitional housing and support program - provided 7,383 nights of housing, including job readiness training and employment, higher education access/support, financial literacy & social skills education, healthy leisure and transportation assistance, to help 76 former foster youth, ages eighteen to twenty-four and their 6 children. We assisted them to make a successful transition from foster care to independent living. Supportive intervention is provided based on personal need, with the goal of fostering skill development, self-direction and parenting skills that will sustain them once they are on their own. Assistance that would typically be provided by parents, such as vehicle repair, dental/healthcare emergencies, college application fees, etc. Is provided.

Activity 3

Child development center - provided 6,255 days of childcare/preschool for 58 children, aged eighteen months to five years, identified as being at risk of abuse or neglect and approximately 72 parents and family members. Provided individual and family counseling, play therapy, parent enrichment education, referral to outside resources and specialized advocacy and counseling to military families suffering the impacts of post traumatic stress disorder, injury and other results of war exposure. A goal of the program is to help families develop a safety net of connection to their community (friends, church, clubs, etc.) and to develop the skills necessary to navigate public/private social service systems to access supports that ensure a healthy family environment.
