“Other program services 4: organicology conference: organicology conference is an interactive educational format created by four organizations designed to meet the diverse needs of the rapidly expanding organic trade. Organicology offers curriculum designed to advance trade knowledge across a broad front. The conference is focused on sustainability, farming, and seed issues as well as an addition of education and interchange around the impacts of climate change on agriculture and federal farm & food policy. The 3-day event offers all-day intensives, workshops, meals featuring organic food and plenty of opportunity for networking across all links in the food supply chain. In 2013, over 850 attended the conference. Other program services 5: organic conservation program: the organic conservation program (ocp) is a strategic partnership with usda natural resources conservation service (nrcs) aimed at building the capacity of the public conservation system to support organic agriculture. Oregon tilth provides national technical assistance and coordination for nrcs to increase the agencys knowledge and skills for serving organic farmers and ranchers and those transitioning to organic production and to increase access to conservation funding for organic producers. Other program services 6: oregon tilths organic land care (olc) program provides education, accreditation and support for landscape professionals to manage non-farm public and private lands using organic methods. The program is cultivating a network of accredited landscape designers, contractors and lawn service companies to increase demand for organically managed parks, campuses, public gardens, school playgrounds, sports fields, hospital grounds and residential yards. In 2013, there were 80 accredited organic land care practitioners located in eight u.s. States and british columbia.oregon tilth partners with oregon state university extension services small farms program to build the research base for organic agriculture in conjunction with and for the benefit of organic farmers in the pacific northwest. The partnership conducts ongoing needs assessment and field research and provides multiple training opportunities for beginning and established farmers and those transitioning to organic production.”
