The contra costa chorale is a community-based, nonprofit music organization open to all singers in the community, committed to a high level of musical performance, emphasizing development of members' musical and vocal skills and our audience's musical knowledge and appreciation. We strive to build a sense of community both within our membership and between the chorale and the community at large.

“The Contra Costa Chorale presented two concerts in FY 2023-24, marking a”
“full return to "normal life". The December 2023 concert featured a”
“premiere presentation of the recently published Michael Ostrzyga's version”
“of Mozart's Requiem, accompanied by a small orchestra and four-hand piano.”
“he May 2024 concert, "Make Our Garden Grow," presented music by composers”
“who have been underrepresented, unknown, or considered outside of”
“mainstream choral music. This concert premiered a piece commissioned by the”
“Chorale to honor Artistic Director Cindy Beitmen's 12 year tenure with the”
“group.”
“The Chorale rehearses weekly through most of August-May, except for much of”
“December and January. Singers receive 2.5 hours of professional-level”
“choral singing instruction weekly. The group is made up of people who have”
“sung their entire lives in church, school, and community choirs; people who”
“have sung their entire lives in church, school, and community choirs;”
“people who sang in school but took a break for decades; and those who have”
“never sung chorally but want to start learning. Just as important is”
“the close community that is built through these weekly rehearsals, at a”
“time when communities are increasingly fractured.”
“In 2018, the Chorale established Community Connections, committed to”
“promoting music education at all learning levels, encouraging student”
“participation in the art of choral singing, and creating and supporting”
“programs that build choral singers and audiences for the future. The main”
“thrust of this program is the Contra Costa Chorale Vocal Music Studies”
“Scholarships, awarded annually to two graduating seniors in the West Contra”
“Costa USD who participated in music programs in their schools.”
