Activity 2

Medicaid and Other Government Sponsored Programs Kaiser Foundation Hospitals (KFH) is committed to improving the way beneficiaries of our Medicaid and other government sponsored programs receive care, not only in our facilities, but also in the communities we serve. In 2012, KFH participated in the Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Plan (CHIP) programs in all of the states we serve as well as state-sponsored programs in Oregon and Washington. At the end of 2012, over 232,000 individuals were receiving access to inpatient care at KFH's facilities under Kaiser Foundation Health Plan Inc.'s Medicaid managed care programs in the states of California, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington. Approximately 203,000 individuals were receiving similar benefits under the CHIP programs.

Activity 3

Medical Research Programs Four Kaiser Permanente research organizations based in California, Hawaii, and Oregon conduct population-based studies, health services research and clinical trials to answer important health policy and public health questions. These projects are funded both internally and externally through federal and state government agencies and other nonprofit organizations such as universities and foundations. While the research conducted by Kaiser Foundation Hospitals guides our clinicians' practice patterns and further enhances the health and medical care of our patients, it also contributes to the wealth of medical knowledge shared through widely-disseminated publications and presentations.
