|---|---|---|
| Tualatin is a suburb of Portland, Oregon. It is nestled in by the Tualatin River and is home to 26,000 residents. Of those residents, approximately 20% are Latino, 20% are over 65, and there is a diverse divide in income, values and education levels in those groups, as well as the remaining 60% of the community. The community is castling with business and 80% of the people who work in Tualatin, do not reside in Tualatin. Thus the Chamber of Commerce is strong between business however often lacks in strength when seeing core values and need for social norm definition. Tualatin Together is focused on increasing our business sector and has been taking steps in that direction which include membership in the chamber, active participation on several committees, supporting local business and engaging owners in one-on-one learning sessions. We host and broadly share what our youth voice, StandUp Tualatin, is doing, as well as our coalition as a whole. The addition of Chris Herren this last year has increased visibility for our youth and the work of our adult coalition. We hosted over 2,000 people in an evening learning event. An additional 2,000 students and 150+ staff heard his message during an assembly. Tualatin Together has been able to carry this Why are kids using. We are using that messaging in our Red Ribbon Week campaign which will be celebrated at all three elementary schools, our middle school and high school. The StandUp Club will continue to partner with the Tigard STUDD Club (the youth voice of the Tigard Turns the Tide Coalition) in much of our work including Red Ribbon Week, National Drug Facts Week, Go Purple Color Run and more. We continue to focus on our underrepresented community members through attending their individual parent meetings, cultural events and other invitations we receive to build relationships. We are excited about the foundation we continue to lay and as we enter a chapter of reapplying for federal funds of which we are 95% dependent on. | $164,084 | - |
