Activity 2

Housing development - as an important part of its mission, human solutions, inc. Has constructed or acquired 608 units of affordable housing since its formation in 1988, and continues to develop or acquire new affordable housing units each year. The 608 units are divided between 16 housing complexes. The three components of the housing development department are:(a) property management - property and asset management were provided for all of the 608 permanent, affordable housing units through several property management companies. More than 600 families, consisting of over 2,100 individuals, were provided housing during the year ended june 30, 2011.(b)resident services - on-site resident services were provided to the tenants in the 608 apartment units to assist these residents to meet their basic housing needs and to build better lives. Resident services for the children living in these units were prominent.(c)construction management - assistance in the development of new housing projects and in the rehabilitation of existing housing complexes was provided.

Activity 3

Employment services - during the year ended june 20, 2011, human solutions, inc. Provided employment and training services to 243 people. Partnerships with the city of gresham, multnomah county, mt. Hood community college/steps to success, the city of portland/portland development commission, worksystems, inc., and others made these services possible. Human solutions, inc. Provided an employment program, called peer support, to assist very low income recent immigrants from eastern europe transition to living-wage employment in the united states. A second employment program, living solutions, focused on very low income participants who have experienced long-term unemployment and lack the training and skills needed to find living wage jobs. Other employment programs served very low income people with high barriers to obtaining employment and who were homeless or at high risk of homelessness.
