Activity 2

Community advocacy program - the community advocacy program provides individual services - crisis intervention, safety planning, short-term mental health therapy, advocacy and linkages to community resources - as well as weekly support groups (including a group for women dually impacted by domestic violence and chemical dependency) in three locations. Child care is provided for all support groups. Legal advocacy for both civil and criminal issues is also provided. The program also screens people for a weekly legal clinic, which provides appointments with a family law attorney at no charge.

Activity 3

Transitional housing program - the transitional housing program operates in a 17-unit building of fully furnished and equipped apartments. Individuals and families stay for up to eighteen months while they rebuild their lives, and find jobs and permanent housing. On-site services include:for women (interpreters are provided for all services): individual advocacy-based counseling; short-term mental health therapy; weekly support groups with child care; parenting classes; linkage to education, job training, and permanent housing resources; legal advocacy for both criminal and civil issues; and follow-up for six months. For children and teens: one-to-one time with children's advocates, safety planning, advocacy with school and other resources, weekly groups, help with homework, and regular outings.
