“Client Note 1 - EXEMPT PURPOSE ACHIEVEMENTSIn 2021 KV 265 continued to further its mission of communicating science through music and the visual arts with its series of Science & Symphony films and related events. Unfortunately, our presentations and production work in the field continued to be severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the setbacks of the pandemic, our films were presented to live and hybrid audiences in the US and Mexico in 2021. Additional lectures were presented remotely. Most concerts continued to be cancelled or postponed due to pandemic restrictions and general uncertainty in live arts programming. The Walder Foundation provided a generous 2-year grant in 2021 to support a Marketing Assistant who will focus on outreach to the 100's of orchestras in the region so that we can aggressively program concerts and education in the post-pandemic environment. SCIENCE & SYMPHONY FILM PRODUCTIONWith the support of an Art Works grant from the National Endowment for the Arts we continued working on three new Science & Symphony films, Nocturnes, with music by Claude Debussy, Moontides, with original music commissioned by KV 265 from Canadian composer John Estacio, and In Search of the Beyond with music by Joaqun Rodrigo. Original photography planned for Moontides in Canada and England was postponed due pandemic travel restrictions. Film production work in 2021 was limited to image processing and video editing in our studio.Three educational videos we produced in association with Ravinia Festival and musicians from Chicago Sinfonietta were used by Chicago area teachers in 2021 to reach over 5,000 students. The Universe at an Exhibition and Over the Beautiful Blue Planet; produced 3 videos for on-line distribution to Chicago Public Schools with music demonstrations, science introduction and education guides for the 2021/22 season reaching approximately 5 - 6,000 students.
