“Line 28 (Program Accomplishments): Kore Press is an intersectional feminist literary arts organization dedicated to creating more just and radically connected communities through the transformative power of deep engagement in literary, community, and social practice arts. By amplifying and celebrating all womens voices with publishing, education, and community engagement, Kore builds social and cultural cohesion for healthier communities.Kore fulfilled the publishing and promotion of women writers aspect of its mission by releasing one new poetry title by July Westhale (her second book from Kore Press), as well as aiding in its promotion and distribution (pre-pub publicity/reviewer outreach, hosting a reading and workshop, running sales, circulating author news, etc). Five other titles were developed during the years editorial / manuscript preparation process (a memoir, Certain And Impossible Events by Candace Opper; a poetry first book by KM English, Wave Says; a poetic memoir by Alexis Orgera, Head Case, about her fathers Alzheimers; Poetry Prize winners Gash Atlas--by Jessica Johnson--and Alexis Jacksons My Sisters Country). We produced and presented 5 live storytelling events (community arts, celebrating womens voices) featuring 30 storytellers total, with audiences of 100 at each event. Each event was recorded, which produced 30 individual stories and 5 podcastable audio segments. These were archi ved online, and will continue to be distributed and promoted. In terms of Kores educational and social practice engagement, we convened a think tank to figure out how to create safer classrooms for LGBTQIA+ youth with literature and storytelling; offered two professional development workshops for educators; and mentored two college aged youth in publishing and the literary organizing. Additionally, Kore published 10 online newsletter with new content, news, and opportunities. We estimate 10,000 readers or audiences including live, online, broadcast media, and print.”
