“Valle del sol amended its articles of incorporation to specifically identify certain services under its behavioral health and human services charitable purpose that had previously been included by inference as follows: - rehabilitative services for developmentally disabled children - outpatient services treating attention deficit disorder, behaviors and conduct, depression, anxiety, trauma and mood disorders in youths - intensive outpatient program for substance abusing youths - general outpatient services treating anxiety, depression, trauma, additions, and relational problems in adults acknowledging the evolution in best practice for treating behavioral health issues, valle del sol also amended its articles to modernize its purpose related to integrated care as follows: - providing primary care and services where patients are cared for with comprehensive and holistic integrated care that incorporates both the physical needs and the behavioral health needs of the individual.”

“All new hires are required to sign acknowledgement of the code of conduct policy. Existing staff must take essential learning classes and comply with professional standards for carf accreditation. The board of directors are given a conflict of interest policy and sign awareness of it annually.”

“The board of directors evaluates the ceo's performance annually. The board sets the position level, pay range and specific components of the total compensation package for the president/ceo. Other officers or key employees fall in line with all staff receiving semi-annual performance reviews. Compensation is standardized based on direct care and administrative salary ranges. The human resource (hr) department researches local non-profit salary surveys annually and creates salary ranges based on the skills, knowledge and behaviors required for the position, and ensures that ranges are competitive with similar organizations. Shared leadership is responsible for reviewing recommendations made by hr and will give final approval for the salary ranges to be used for each position. On an annual basis, shared leadership will review and approve, as appropriate, recommended changes to position range movement as recommended by hr and as determined through the market analysis process. As part of the annual budgeting process, shared operational leadership will review and approve, as appropriate, funds to be allocated for total compensation, which would include base salaries, bonuses, incentive based pay and all other related expenses, including benefit plans as recommended by hr.”

The conflict of interest policy is made available to the public upon request and it is made available to all staff on the valle del sol intranet under agency policies. Each staff receives a written copy, signs the copy and a copy of the policy is included in the employee handbook. The code of conduct is available at each reception desk for the public to request as well as available to employees on the valle del sol intranet. The governing documents are currently made available to the public upon request.”

“Valle del sol had a complete turn over in accounting staff during the year. For positions below that of cfo, there was multiple turnover for many positions. The high-rate of change had a signifant impact on the organization's ability to produce reliable financial information. The new accounting staff have worked hard to bring all accounts up to date and ready for audit. Valle del sol has secured extensions for completing the audit from funders of major programs and is working with them to keep them informed of its progress. An independent audit, including the performance of single audit testing, is underway. Both the auditor and valle del sol recognize the importance of providing quality financial statements and are working to complete the audit as soon as possible.”
