Activity 2

Production and services: beacon group performs sub-contract work for many local businesses each year. This work is a training and development vehicle for people with disabilities, and provides workers with a source of sustaining income. During the year, beacon assembled over 45,000,000 aerospace rivets for alcoa, and over a million mechanical assemblies for companies such as precision shooting equipment, solon corporation, air systems components and fisher industries. Clients and staff processed 250,000 bulk mailing pieces and assembled 80,000 medical cables. Over 3,300,000 pounds of paper were shredded in our document destruction business (an average of 7 tons of paper per day) for over 1,000 shredding business customers and many individual customers. We have over 30 community worksites performing a variety services including vehicle washing and clerical work. Overall production and services sales was up 2% from the prior year.

Activity 3

Custodial and landscaping: beacon group provides custodial services for a variety of customers including abilityone projects. We provide these services for approximately 1,400,000 square feet of combined commercial space. Our custodial services provide training and job opportunities for people with disabilities. Abilityone projects require 75% of the direct labor to be performed by people with disabilities. Beacon group's custodial and landscaping projects have 85% of the direct labor performed by people with disabilities. We have received top ratings for work at our largest project, the federal courthouse in tucson. Revenues for this program were up 10% this fiscal year. During the year we started new projects for trico electric, the tucson fire department and the arizona department of transportation.
