DescriptionGrantsExpenses
Over the course of three years, the Vallejo Project has achieved significant programmatic milestones and growth in serving youth participants. The organization began by serving 100 youth participants and has since grown by an additional 100 youth participants annually. These achievements reflect the dedication and commitment of the Vallejo Project to its mission of breaking the cycle of violence and economic hardship faced by students in the community.Year 1: Serving 100 Youth Participants Wellness Program: In the first year, the Vallejo Project initiated its Wellness Program, known as "Safe Spaces." This program created a nurturing and safe environment for students, fostering positive interactions and building their self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-assurance. The organization trained youth interns as peer Community Health Workers and Youth Mental Health First Aid workers, providing support to their peers in need. Arts and Communication: The Arts and Communication program introduced storytelling as a dynamic and engaging way to enhance language learning and allow young learners to share their voices. Bootcamp filmmaking was taught to provide students with a creative outlet and an opportunity to address community issues through storytelling. Trades Program: Vallejo Project initiated its Trades Program with pathways in Cabling and Carpentry. The program aimed to challenge the "school-to-prison pipeline" by providing youth with valuable skills and training for future careers in these trades.Year 2: Growing to 200 Youth Participants Wellness Program Expansion: Building on the success of Safe Spaces, the organization expanded its Wellness Program. More youth interns were trained as peer Community Health Workers, and the program continued to provide essential support to students in need, both inside and outside of school. Arts and Communication Enhancement: The Arts and Communication program continued to flourish, with an increased emphasis on storytelling as a means of student expression. Student voices were amplified, and the program's impact on the community grew. Trades Program Growth: Vallejo Project's Trades Program expanded, offering more opportunities for youth to gain valuable skills in Cabling and Carpentry. The organization strengthened its partnerships with schools and industry to provide robust training and education.Year 3: Serving 300 Youth Participants Wellness Program Impact: The Wellness Program demonstrated a positive impact on students' behavior and emotional well-being. Safe Spaces became a crucial resource for students, helping them develop vital social and emotional skills, such as self-awareness, self-regulation, and responsible decision-making. Arts and Communication Empowerment: The Arts and Communication program continued to empower students through storytelling. Their voices became influential in addressing community issues, and the program became a platform for student-led initiatives. Trades Program Success: The Trades Program achieved notable success in preparing youth for careers in Cabling and Carpentry. Vallejo Project's participants became more skilled, educated, and confident, reducing their vulnerability to the challenges of economic hardship and violence. In summary, over three years, the Vallejo Project has grown its programs and impacted the lives of 300 youth participants annually. Through the Wellness, Arts and Communication, and Trades Programs, the organization has made significant strides in breaking the cycle of violence and economic hardship by fostering positive interactions, self-esteem, and providing valuable skills and opportunities for the youth in the community. Sponsorship of the Vallejo Project will continue to support these transformative efforts and contribute to the success of the organization's mission.-$85,932
