“Activities are accomplished through the opreation of bookstores in federal visitor centers in new mexico and arizona, an active public lands recreation based website at www.publiclands.org, operation of the new mexico public lands information center in the new mexico state office of the bureau of land management in santa fe, new mexico and operating, and providing all interpretive services for three campgrounds on the williams ranger district of the kaibab national forest in arizona. Plia serves visitors to public land areas in all western states through the website, and in person in arizona and new mexico and embraces a large spectrum of public lands users. The public lands interpretive association specalizes in providing stewardship and conservation information and messaging to underserved public lands users such as campers, off highway vehicle users, hunters and fisher persons, rock climbers and mountain bike riders either in person or through the webiste. The public lands interpretive association uses generated revenue to support the interpretive and educational programs of the associations partner public land management agencies. This is accomplished by providing paid staff in federal visitor center, publishing interpretive and educational materials like the six part recreation map of new mexico, river guides to the rio grande and rio chama rivers in new mexico and the dolores river in colorado as well as guides to the linclon, kaibab and cibola national forests, and funding projects that enhance the pubilc's awareness of public lands, by facilitating access to public lands for recreational activities and by contributing money to educational, interpretive and research projects selected by the agency that are not federally funded and would not be accomplished with out the assistance of the public lands interpretive association.”

PROGRAMS ARE ALSO OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.THESE PROGRAMS ARE PRESENTED FREE OF CHARGE AND ARE GIVEN THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER CAMPING SEASON. THE PROGRAMS CONSIST OF EVENING TALKS, WALKS ON SIGNED INTERPRETIVE TRAILS BUILT AND MAINTAINED BY PLIA. THE VOLUME OF PASS SALES EACH YEAR AT SABINO CANYON IS IMPACTED BY THE AVAILABILTY OF THE FOREST SERVICE TO STAFF AND SELL PASSES AT THE ENTRANCE STATION AS WELL AS THE INCREASE IN VISITORS FROM YEAR-TO-YEAR. PALISADES SALES ARE IMPACTED BY CHANGES IN VISITATION.THE RED ROCK COUNTRY PASSES ARE SOLD BY PLIA ON ITS WEBSITE AS A CONVENIENCE TO VISITORS WHO WANT TO BUY THE PASS BEFORE THEY VISIT THE RED ROCK RECREATION FEE AREA.BY SELLING THESE PASSES EITHER THROUGH ON SITE BOOKSTORES OR ON LINE, PLIA IS PROVIDING A SERVICE TO THE PUBLIC WHO MUST HAVE THE PASSES TO BE IN COMPLIANCE BEFORE USING THE RESOURCE AND ALLOWING ACCESS TO THE AREA WHICH HELPS PLIA FULFILL IT'S MISSION TO INSPIRE AND EDUCATE PULBIC ABOUT AMERICA'S PUBLIC LANDS.
