Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11

The 990 is reviewed by the board of directors and questions and comments are solicited via electronic distribution of the return.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

Board and staff complete a conflict of interest policy statement annually. Annual conflict of interest declarations are reviewed by the audit committee for compliance with internal standards as well as potential disclosures.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15A

Compensation for the ceo is reviewed and determined by the executive committee of the board of directors, then approved by the full board. Data from the colorado nonprofit association and united way worldwide salary surveys are used to arrive at a market rate compensation. The board secretary records this conversation. Compensation was last reviewed in 2013. Compensation of other key employees is determined by the ceo with approval by the board of directors through the budgeting process. The ceo reviews the compensation in partnership with the executive committee of the board, using local market data, along with the colorado nonprofit association and united way worldwide salary survey data. Key employee compensation was last reviewed in 2014.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActyOtherGrp/Desc0VOLUNTEER CONNECTION: ACQUIRED BY FOOTHILLS UNITED WAY IN AUGUST 2011, FOOTHILLS UNITED WAY'S VOLUNTEER CONNECTION STRENGTHENS THE COMMUNITIES OF BOULDER AND BROOMFIELD COUNTIES THROUGH VOLUNTEER ADVOCACY AND ENGAGEMENT. ORIGINALLY ESTABLISHED AS A PROGRAM OF BOULDER COUNTY UNITED WAY IN 1969, VOLUNTEER CONNECTION WAS ONE OF THE FIRST COMMUNITY-BASED INFORMATION AND REFERRAL CENTERS IN THE COUNTRY. TODAY, THE PROGRAM SUPPORTS OVER 250 LOCAL NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS BY CONNECTING THEM WITH OVER 20,000 VOLUNTEERS ANNUALLY.
IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActyOtherGrp/Desc1RESILIENCE PROGRAM: BEGINNING AS AN EXTENSION OF THE RELIEF AND RECOVERY EFFORTS COMING OUT OF THE DEVASTATING FOURMILE CANYON FIRE IN THE FALL OF 2010, THE RESILIENCE PROGRAM FOSTERS A RELATIONSHIP OF ADVOCACY AND ACTION BETWEEN FOOTHILLS UNITED WAY, LOCAL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, NONPROFITS, AND RESIDENTS OF OUR MOUNTAIN AREAS. IN ADDITION TO WORKING ON DISASTER PREPAREDNESS AND RECOVERY, THE PROGRAM STRIVES TO BREAK DOWN THE BARRIERS THAT KEEP RESIDENTS FROM ACCESSING HUMAN SERVICE RESOURCES.
IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActyOtherGrp/Desc2INTERMOUNTAIN ALLIANCE: THE INTERMOUNTAIN ALLIANCE (IMA) WAS FORMED IN RESPONSE TO THE FOURMILE CANYON FIRE AND HAS REMAINED A COHESIVE GROUP OF MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY LEADERS THROUGH THE FLOOD OF 2013 TO PRESENT TIME. COMMUNICATIONS WAS A GREAT CONCERN AFTER THE FIRE WHICH LED TO A PARTNERSHIP WITH BOULDER COUNTY AMATEUR RADIO EMERGENCY SERVICES AND THE FORMATION OF THE MOUNTAIN EMERGENCY RADIO NETWORK (MERN). MERN IS JUST ONE OF THE INITIATIVES SUPPORTED BY THE IMA. THIS GROUP OF SELF-MOTIVATED MOUNTAIN LEADERS TIRELESSLY WORK TO BUILD THE RESILIENCE OF THEIR MOUNTAIN COMMUNITIES.
IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActyOtherGrp/Desc3PEAK TO PEAK HOUSING AND HUMAN SERVICES TASKFORCE: THE PEAK TO PEAK HOUSING AND HUMAN SERVICES TASKFORCE IS A COLLABORATION OF HUMAN SERVICE AGENCIES WHO SEEK TO IMPROVE THE BASIC NEEDS OF MOUNTAIN RESIDENTS. IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActyOtherGrp/Desc8FAMILYWIZE PRESCRIPTION DISCOUNT PROGRAM: IN THE LAST TWO YEARS, 40% OF PEOPLE IN THE UNITED STATES HAVE EITHER SKIPPED FILLING A PRESCRIPTION OR REDUCED THEIR DOSES BECAUSE THE MEDICINE WAS TOO EXPENSIVE.
