BRENT'S PLACE

FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

The brent eley foundation (dba brent's place) is committed to being a safe, supportive, long-term home filled with hope for families facing a life-threatening medical crisis. In addition to independent living accommodations, brent's place offers a variety of uniquely tailored programs and services for the entire family designed to help in the healing process.

Form 990, Part III

During 2023, brents place welcomed a record-breaking 391 resident families over the course of 710 total visits representing more than 20,000 guest nights. More than 75% of brents place residents were 100+ miles from home during their time with us in 2023; they hailed from 19 states; and a total of 60% reported an annual household income of less than 50,000. Over the course of the year, pediatric and adult patients were joined and supported at brents place by spouses, children, siblings, parents, grandparents, and other caregivers. While caring for an acutely ill loved-one is challenging under any circumstance, doing so without the comforts of home can be devastating. Each resident family was served comprehensively and with excellence, without length-of-stay restrictions or additional financial burden thanks to our community-funded housing and wrap-around support model. In short, brents place allows families to undertake a temporary relocation together in order to access world-class medical care, serving as a crucial safety net for a record number of patients. At the end of 2023, a total of 63 long-term resident apartments and 6 short-term hospitality suites were operational, triple the number of units that we operated in 2016. In addition to our unique two-facility aurora campus, we offer adult patient families access to our unique accommodations - fully maintained and operated by brents place - at residential apartment properties near partner hospitals. The comfort and safety our independent family apartments offer residents is immeasurable and allows families to focus on each other rather than spending their limited time and energy struggling with housing logistics and the financial strain that would otherwise almost certainly accompany the treatment and relocation process. Within these unique homes, families are able to navigate a health crisis together, maintain daily routines that support their unique needs, traditions, and values, and rest securely in the knowledge that the health of their medically-fragile loved one is being intentionally prioritized. In addition to bridging the cost of these specialized family accommodations, brents place continues its diligent efforts to refine resident support initiatives by increasing their personalization - a requirement for successfully serving an incredibly diverse population with broad and complex needs. This individualization was one of our stated goals for the year and our success in achieving it proved to be transformational for resident families, each of whom was far from home navigating a life- threatening medical crisis without the comfort of everyday routines and their own community of support back home. Brents place respite programs - a total of 1,446 programs for 21,335 participants, including milestone adult patient and caregiver engagement - included expanded food security initiatives (providing over 13,500 meals and a food pantry stocked with perishable & nonperishable food items), customized family outings to local attractions, over 300 birthday celebrations, music and art therapy, local transportation, caregiver support, and more. Our broad catalog of respite programming was specifically designed to positively impact each residents physical health, mental wellness, and financial stability so that families may create more happy memories together.

Form 990, Part X

As of year-end 2023, in addition to investments to support its operating reserves, the foundation had undesignated cash and cash equivalents of 1,832,348. The board of directors continually monitors the level of available cash to ensure that current operational needs are met and the organization can withstand short-term economic uncertainties. As well, readily available unrestricted cash allows the organization to respond to new opportunities and to prepare for future growth that will make it possible to serve more families.

Form 990, Page 12, Part XII, Line 2C

There were no changes in the foundation's audit oversight or selection process during the year.

Financial Statement Notes
