At an annual meeting, the members of the board of directors review the conflict of interest policy statement and state any potential conflicts of interest according to the policy. They are asked to sign a policy statment annually disclosing any existing conflicts of interest and the mitigating steps being implemented to resolve the conflicts, or confirming that there are no conflicts of interest. Employees are also asked to complete and sign a conflict of interest questionnaire upon hire and on an annual basis thereafter. Compliance with the policy is monitored by the ceo.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 15A

BRENT'S PLACE

FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

The brent eley foundation (dba brent's place) is committed to providing safe-clean, long-term housing for families and children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses while they receive treatment at local hospitals. In addition to independent living accommodations, brent's place offers a variety of uniquely tailored programs and services for the entire family designed to help in the healing process.

Form 990, Part III

Brent's place provides families navigating a medical crisis with warm and welcoming accommodations as well as a wide variety of personalized opportunities to create happy memories together, building love, trust, and resiliency during an exceptionally challenging time of life. This foundation strengthens families during treatment - and for a lifetime. In 2022, a total of 344 families were welcomed to brents place over a course of 685 visits and more than 21,000 guest nights. This demonstrates significant growth from the previous record set in 2019, when 293 families were served, and topples the figure reached in 2021, when 278 families called brents place home. Our dramatic expansion is due in large part to the growing number of family apartments brents place operates. In addition to our unique two-facility aurora campus, an innovative new housing model (successfully piloted in 2019) has sustainably expanded operations each year since that time. We now offer adult patient families access to our unique accommodations - fully maintained and operated by brents place - at residential properties near partner hospitals. In 2022, a total of 60 long- term resident apartments and 6 short-term hospitality suites were operational; just seven short years ago, only 20 family units were available. In addition to brents places expanded physical footprint, a second contributing factor impacted our ability to serve a record-breaking number of families in 2022: all six on-site hospitality suites were fully operational for the entirety of the year for the first time since the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic. Over the course of the prior year, nearly 90% of brents place families relocated 50+ miles from home in order to access life-saving medical care for their loved one; they hailed from 20 states; five partner hospitals referred them to brents place; and more than 61% reported a household income of less than 50,000. Regardless, each and every resident required specialized, family-centered housing designed to support their health and stability for the duration of the lengthy treatment and recovery process. The average length of stay on our aurora campus was 127 days. While caring for an acutely ill loved one is challenging under any circumstance, doing so without the comforts of home can be devastating. Specifically, brents place worked hard to ensure that all resident families were served comprehensively and with excellence, without length-of-stay restrictions and regardless of their financial status, by providing: physical shelter. The comfort and safety our independent family apartments offer residents is immeasurable. Within these unique homes, families are able to navigate a health crisis together, maintain daily routines that support their unique needs, traditions, and values, and rest securely in the knowledge that the health of their medically-fragile loved one is being intentionally prioritized. In 2022, brents place patients, siblings, spouses, parents, and caregivers were able to focus on creating happy memories rather than spending their limited time and energy struggling with housing logistics and the financial strain that would otherwise almost certainly accompany the treatment and relocation process. Each brents place apartment includes 1-3 bedrooms and a bathroom, living room, dining area, and fully equipped kitchen, allowing residents the privacy and isolation they may require or prefer. Individualized family support. In addition to specialized accommodations, brents place provided each member of every resident family with ongoing access to critical support programming in 2022. While our programmatic offerings continued to evolve over the course of the year in response to changing covid-19 guidelines, these challenges did not stop us from offering extensive respite opportunities addressing a wide array of resident needs. As always, each brents place program and support activity was designed to alleviate specific social, emotio

Form 990, Part X

Section b, line 1 & 2 as of year-end 2022, in addition to investments to support its operating reserves, the foundation had undesignated cash and cash equivalents of 1,826,650. The board of directors continually monitors the level of available cash to ensure that current operational needs are met and the organization can withstand short-term economic uncertainties. As well, readily available unrestricted cash allows the organization to respond to new opportunities and to prepare for future growth that will make it possible to serve more families.

There were no changes in the foundation's audit oversight or selection process during the year.
