Following this review, a copy is given to each voting member of the board of directors before its submission to the irs.”
“At an annual meeting, the members of the board of directors review the conflict of interest policy statement and state any potential conflicts of interest according to the policy. They are asked to sign a policy statment annually disclosing any existing conflicts of interest and the mitigating steps being implemented to resolve the conflicts, or confirming that there are no conflicts of interest. In addition to independent living accommodations, brent's place offers a variety of uniquely tailored programs and services for the entire family designed to help in the healing process.”
“During 2024, brents place provided nearly 23,000 guest night accommodations and was a lifeline for 402 families facing life-threatening medical crisesmore than ever before in our history. These families came from 15 states, with 77% traveling over 100 miles to access world-class medical care that often represented the best chance for survival. Many arrived in financial distress55% reported annual household incomes under 50,000and all arrived in crisis, navigating unfamiliar systems, devastating diagnoses, and the emotional toll of extended medical treatment far from home. At the end of 2024, a total of 69 long-term resident apartments and 6 short-term hospitality suites were operational. In addition to our unique two-facility aurora campus, we offer adult patient families access to our unique accommodations - fully maintained and operated by brents place - at residential apartment properties near partner hospitals. The comfort and safety that our independent family apartments offer residents is immeasurable and allows families to focus on each other rather than spending their limited time and energy with housing logistics and the financial strain that would otherwise almost certainly accompany the treatment and relocation process. While caring for an acutely ill loved-one is challenging under any circumstance, doing so without the comforts of home can be devastating. Brents place met these families with more than just housingwe delivered stability, community, and hope. Thanks to our community-funded model, we provided reliable, medically safe accommodations at no cost to families, without any length-of-stay restrictions. Every family membersiblings, spouses, children, grandparents, and caregiverswas welcomed and supported with compassion and care. But housing is just the beginning. Our wrap-around support model includes more than 1,500 trauma-informed programs, reaching over 26,400 participants in 2024. From freshly prepared meals and birthday celebrations to transportation assistance, caregiver support, and therapeutic recreation, these services are designed to strengthen emotional resilience, physical well-being, and financial stability. We continued to enhance and personalize our respite programming last year, tailoring support to meet the diverse and complex needs of each family. In short, brents place allows families to undertake a temporary relocation together in order to access world-class medical care, serving as a crucial safety net for a record number of patients. Together, were not just providing a place to staywere creating a compassionate community where families find comfort, strength, connection and moments of respite when they need it most.”
“As of year-end 2024, in addition to investments to support its operating reserves, the foundation had undesignated cash and cash equivalents of 2,346,336. The board of directors continually monitors the level of available cash to ensure that current operational needs are met and the organization can withstand short-term economic uncertainties. As well, readily available unrestricted cash allows the organization to prepare for future growth and respond to new opportunities that will make it possible to serve more families.”
